  1. I hope your new car arrived today! If so, I hope you'll be able to pick it up soon and will post in the manual transmission impressions thread. *EDIT* I just remembered that they screwed up your reorder and ordered an automatic. I assume that the one that is supposed to arrive at the dealer. Are you going to buy the one with the dirty dirty seat, get the automatic, reorder again, or give up and get something else? My car now has an ETA of 1/14/13. Considering the recall and the holiday break, I'm kind of surprised it is finally on the way. I still wonder if my 11/30 built car had the recall work done after it was built or if it never needed it. The recall never did show up on ETIS.
  2. I hope your holidays were happy! May I have another update? 3FA6P0HR9DR192328
  3. I found a car on cars.com with a 1.6 that was built the same day as mine (11/30/2012). So, they've definitely started shipping again! I'm hoping I'll hear mine has shipped soon.
  4. *Edit* Post made in error and removed.
  5. I think I'll change the oil for the first time at 3000 miles and then switch to full-synthetic. Congrats on the car! It's good to see another MT driver on the forum. May I ask when your car was built? Mine was built 11/30, but hasn't shipped yet.
  6. I concur. The 19" wheels on Ebay sold for $1225 + $100 for TPMS + $150 for shipping. Grand total: $1475. So, $1500 is definitely not out of line. Unless, of course, the Ebay buyer was a complete idiot--a definite possibility. I guess we will find out if they really do start going for $800 in a few months. But, since the tires alone cost nearly $1000, I doubt that will happen. If you were to place them right next to bright silver wheels, then you'd notice they are actually quite a bit darker. Still, they're nowhere near as dark in in the real world as they look on Ford's website. Nevertheless, I like them quite a lot just as they are.
  7. Come up with a cool looking vehicle with class leading specs. ??? Profit
  8. I just got an email from my salesperson. He is still completely in the dark on what is going on with my car. He says he has been checking the status daily. I'll post an update if/when I hear anything new.
  9. I ran this search on cars.com: http://www.cars.com/...28705#105103144 Then I looked at the photos to verify that what came up in the search really had a manual. Of the 10 cars that came up, only one actually had a manual. The rest were listed as manuals in error. *EDIT* I just checked the VIN of the car in the search that didn't have a photo. It hasn't been delivered yet, but it looks like another 6MT is going to eventually show up in Huntington Beach, CA: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=newcc&csDlId=&csDgId=&listingId=105029262&listingRecNum=6&criteria=sf1Dir%3DDESC%26mkId%3D20015%26stkTyp%3DN%26mdId%3D21175%26kwm%3DALL%26rd%3D100000%26crSrtFlds%3DstkTypId-feedSegId-mkId-mdId-yrId-trId-transTypeId-photoId%26zc%3D55110%26rn%3D0%26PMmt%3D1-1-1%26stkTypId%3D28880%26sf2Dir%3DASC%26sf1Nm%3Dprice%26yrId%3D47272%26requestorTrackingInfo%3DRTB_SEARCH%26kw%3D1.6l%26sf2Nm%3Dlocation%26isDealerGrouping%3Dfalse%26photoId%3D46724%26transTypeId%3D28112%26trId%3D24929%26rpp%3D50%26feedSegId%3D28705&aff=gogsema&listType=1
  10. Is anyone else here waiting for a 1.6 Fusion built 11/30/12 or later to ship? If so, you probably have the same questions I have: Why is the 1.6 fire recall still not showing up on ETIS? Were they somehow built with the new software and thus no updates are needed? Are they going to be fixed before they ship? Are the going to be fixed at the dealer? Are they going to be shipped off to TBD land for two months or more? How long will it be before they are shipped out? You've probably guessed I'm starting to get impatient. I don't mind waiting awhile, but I would really like to know what is going on. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks!
  11. If I wasn't getting a new Fusion, I'd probably go for a 2014 Mazda6 even though the manual doesn't come loaded up to my liking. As far as the Subaru Outback goes, in my opinion, the only one worth considering is the 6-cylinder version. I've driven both a manual and CVT 4-cylinder Outback. Both were absolutely awful. The CVT sounded terrible. Kind of like a constant rustling of leaves. The manual wasn't much better. First gear is way too tall, and sixth gear is way too short. The shifting action is also clunky. It's a shame, because the AWD system is so darn good.
  12. Thank you, Cyberdman! May I have another? (I'd love to see it on it's way, but I have a feeling since it is a 1.6 it will be awhile.) 3FA6P0HR9DR192328
  13. I'm curious if anyone knows how this recall is going to affect 1.6 vehicles that haven't been delivered. Are they going to hold them and do the fix before they ship? Are the dealers going to perform the recall work? Are they going to send them off to Michigan for two months like they did with the Fusions built with bad headlights? Why are the 11/30 and later build dates still not showing the recall on ETIS? I'd love to have some answers.
  14. My guess is someone ordered it, but backed out after the 1.6 recall debacle.
  15. I came across what may be the only unspoken for manual transmission Fusion 2013 in the USA: http://www.cars.com/...racktype=usedcc Anyone near Coraopolis, PA want to take it for a spin and post up your impressions? Of course, you'll probably need to wait at least a week until the recall work is done.
  16. The Mazda6 specs have been released: http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/displayPage.action?pageParameter=modelsSpecs&vehicleCode=M6N On the specs page it looks like one can get the manual on both the Sport and Touring trim levels, but on this page it looks like the manual is only available on the Sport. In any case, three important features appear to be limited to the auto only Grand Touring: heated seats, memory seats, and moonroof. Looks like I'm in it for the long haul as there is no other mid-size manual transmission sedan under $30k that has the features I really want.
  17. That doesn't necessarily mean it won't fit. I don't know how many times I've had Amazon indicate that product doesn't fit my car when I know for a fact it does.
  18. I read somewhere that they are, but I don't remember the source. I guess I'll find out for sure in the spring when I swap wheels.
  19. In addition to the potential for salt damaging the finish on the 19" wheels, I worry about potholes. It can be fairly easy to damage a rim when the tire doesn't have a lot of sidewall to protect it. Plus, I don't know if the Continental ProContact tires on the 19" H-Spoke wheels have the same construction as the ProContact tires on my VW. But, if they do, they have weak sidewalls that are easily damaged by pothole impacts. I ruined two tires within two week on the VW. I'll be using the SE 17" wheels in the winter and the 19" H-Spoke wheels in the summer .
  20. I ordered the Fusion brochure. It didn't come with anything special. However, I also ordered a Transit Connect brochure. It came with a $750 coupon that appears to be valid for "most Ford or Lincoln vehicles" and is "in addition to any current public offers". The Fusion is not on the excluded vehicle list. If my car gets here before it expires on 1/26/13, I'll try to use it.
  21. I'm glad to hear they have a fix. Although, a more detailed explanation would have been nice. Hopefully this is the last of the 1.6 recalls. I wonder what this means for my 1.6 built on 11/30 that never showed the recall in ETIS. Was it actually built with the new software, but Ford didn't announce the production line fix because they weren't finished testing? Will my car get the update at the dealer? Will my car get sent off to TBD land? Hopefully I still have a chance of getting my car this month.
  22. The 2014 Mazda6 is supposed to start arriving at dealers in early January. Full specs should be available soon. When I ordered the Fusion, I didn't consider waiting for the Mazda as it looked like they wouldn't offer a manual transmission. Now, it seems a manual trans is certain in both the gas and diesel versions. I'm guessing my 1.6 will be shipped off to TBD land and I'll be lucky to get it by the end of January. That will give my plenty of time to decided. If I end up not liking the Mazda and Ford doesn't do anything to give me a warm fuzzy feeling after their botched launch, I'll probably keep the current car or reconsider the Passat.
  23. I'm sure a lot of people in TBD land and those who haven't received the 1.6 Fusions are thinking about jumping ship. What will you get if you give up on Ford? Or, if you've already given up, what did you get? *EDIT - I can't believe I forgot the Sonata and Optima. I added them to the poll.
  24. Thank you, Cyberdman! May I have another? 3FA6P0HR9DR192328
  25. That Mazda6 is starting to look good to me too. If they offer a manual with the same goodies as the Fusion I ordered, I might bail on Ford.
