  1. I'm not sure what your point is but it is a plant sequence number for all car models built at the same plant. VIN POSITION 12-17 Sequential Vehicle Identifiers Passenger Cars: A unique six digit numeric sequence code is assigned to each passenger car by the vehicle assembly plant of manufacture. 100001 thru 599999- Ford Division Vehicles 600001 thru 999999- Lincoln Division Vehicles
  2. Charging is not even close to 100% efficiency so knowing the capacity of the battery is only part of the equation. If my Energi ever shows up I will be able to answer the question accurately since I have installed a kilowatt hour (kwh) meter in the circuit that is dedicated to charging the car. My electric bill, at 16 cents per kwh, is never less than $100 per month even in the summer when the power company gives me a $30 per month credit for allowing them to remotely control my air conditioner compressor.
  3. It is not known, to me, what effect a sudden loss of power during a charging cycle will have on the charger and the car's charging system. Other appliances on the same circuit will momemtarily drop the voltage as they start up, especially inductive loads like a motor which will draw about 7 times its running current while starting. Circuit breakers that trip a lot eventually have to be replaced because their trip current starts to be reduced. Circuit breakers are sized to protect the wire, not the load. I question the mention of a 15 amp circuit for the charger. IMHO it should be a minimum of a 20 amp circuit. You can't change a 15 amp circuit to a 20 amp circuit by replacing the breaker. That is a fire hazard. Circuits are wired as follows: 15 amp breaker - 14 AWG wire 20 amp breaker - 12 AWG wire 30 amp breaker - 10 AWG wire The other problem with a non-dedicated circuit is that it increases the number of connections as the circuit goes from outlet to outlet. If any of those connections are loose there will be heating during the heavy current draw of the charger. With the potential problems it is best to have a dedicated circuit of the correct size.
  4. This unit is plug-in. Note that the cord is one foot long so it has to be mounted right beside the outlet. http://www.amazon.com/Leviton-EVB22-3PM-Evr-Green-Charging-Station/dp/B004G6ZSZG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361961994&sr=8-1&keywords=Leviton+EV+charger
  5. That doesn't work. Someone could turn on the microwave (1500 watts) or worse yet the clothes dryer (6000 watts) or the air conditioner compressor (2400 watts) could come on.
  6. Has anyone considered installing a kilowatt-hour (kwh) meter, in the feed to their 240 volt charging station, to track actual electricity usage for charging?
  7. The Energi has at least two names. On the Build your own web site it is called 2013 Fusion Energi Titanium FWD On the inventory search web site it is called 2013 Fusion Hybrid Energi Titanium Are there any other variations?
  8. Isn't there a quote from Henry Ford that said: You can have any color you want as long as it is black. Or is my memory playing tricks on me again?
  9. That is probably the case. I appear to be in the minority in actually likeing the charcoal interior. My 2010 Fusion Hybrid has a black interior and the only problem that I have had with the interior is spotting of the dashboard. Meguiar's makes a product that keeps it under control so a little elbow grease every so often takes care of it.
  10. Dealer # F16017 Order # 1000 Description: Fusion Energi Titanium Color: Ingot Silver Order date: January 22, 2013 Thank you for the service that you provide.
  11. While not a real time monitor the Davis carchip Pro can be left connected to the ODBII port all of the time. http://www.davisnet.com/drive/products/drive_product.asp?pnum=08226 It will record speed and 4 other parameters that you choose during setup while connected to a computer. It can also be set to give a warning tone if a set speed is exceeded. I have had one connected to my 2010 Fusion Hybrid for four years. I remove it on the last day of every month and download the data to my computer. Then I clear its memory and reinstall on the 1st of the month. I have never tried connecting the USB cable to it while it was in the car so I don't know if that gives any useful information. I also have to remove it and connect it to the computer when daylight saving time begins and ends to adjust its internal clock. I did have trouble selecting a profile that worked with the Hybrid. They appear to have stopped updating it so I would buy from Amazon so it can easily be returned if it doesn't work with current models. If my Fusion Energi Titanium ever gets built I will be able to report if any profile works with it.
  12. It's less complicated internally than a 4-way switch that is used with two 3-way switches to provide control of a light from three locations.
  13. That's true. I'll remove the single pole observation from my previous post. However anyone who works on a circuit without turning off the breaker feeding the circuit is an accident waiting to happen.
  14. Someone said that a picture is worth a 1000 words. So here it is:
  15. A double pole switch is available at Lowe's. http://www.lowes.com/pd_89198-334-CSB220W_0__?productId=3569190&Ntt=double%2Bpole%2Blight%2Bswitch&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNtt%3Ddouble%252Bpole%252Blight%252Bswitch&facetInfo= The hard part is finding one rated for 20 amps. The vast majority of switches at Lowe's are 15 amp switches.
  16. I forgot to mention that the reason for the switch instead of just unplugging it is that a 6-20P plug takes a lot of force to remove and to connect. That got annoying after just two times of unplugging it. It is another solution if the force required doesn't bother you.
  17. I installed a Leviton level 2 plug-in charger in my garage in preparation for my Fusion Energi when it eventually is delivered. I measured the power it idles at and found that it is about 10 watts. Over a month that amounts to 7.3 kwh wasted. I modified the installation to have an on/off switch so it will only be turned on when needed. That's one less phantom power drain in my house.
  18. I'm trading my 2010 FFH for a 2013 Energi Titanium. I have a reluctance to trade the 2010 but the 2013 Energi is what I wanted when I bought the 2010 in 2009.

  20. I've received three coupons so far. The first was direct from Ford and it expires March 4. The second was from the dealer I purchased my current Fusion Hybrid from and it expires March 4. The third was in the brochure that I requested and it expires March 29. I ordered a Fusion Energi Titanium on January 22. What are the chances that the car will be here before all of them expire? I'm thinking it is not likely.
