  1. April 19th ? don't you mean MArch 19th .... you got yours before me and I was April 8th
  2. Yup! Mine definitely move ..... :-)
  3. One month anniversary with the car tonight and I took it out for some night driving ... believe it or not .... I've done almost no driving past dark since I got it ... so how does an 18.8 mile run (non-highway) with a MPG of 48.4 sound? :-)
  4. if you are so fickle that you would "let" the opinions of a few people up on a forum influence your decision to buy a particular car - geez ..... and by the way - the 62MPH factor on the Z's hybrid engine is a HUGE deal. Toyota's hybrid platform does not approach this number .... during my normal daily commute to and from work (35-55 MPH, 12 miles each way) ..... I'm consistently averaging 42-48 MPGs ..... it is when I jump on the highway when I elect to drive above 70MPH that the overall numbers level off a bit ...... Best of luck to you .... I hope you find something that makes you happy!
  5. My always rule of driving (even now with the hybrid Z) is simple: Highway : Not in the far right lane ? if you're not at least 7 miles over the post speed limit - you are impeding normal traffic flow In the far right lane? you must be going at least the speed limit : if you're not - you are impeding normal traffic flow in the that lane. Boy Entropy - seems like you woke up on the wrong side this morning! :-)
  6. Hmmm ... I got no instructions with the cargo net - and there appears to be nothing in the owner's manual about it!
  7. Does anyone with the hybrid have the cargo net installed ? if so - please excuse a stupid question ..... but how did you install it? (my dealer just now sent me mine) I cant seem to find the locations to for the clips and for the other 2 rope hooks? There are 4 rope hooks/loops ... I only see a place for 2 of them .... Thoughts?
  8. Amen! Hybrids are more prone to deviate from EPA results ..... too much variability in the way different people drive their cars .... you have to learn the right way to drive this car to maximize real-world MPG (not EPA) ... I guarantee you if we took our cars on the EPA "test track" we'd all be reporting 45+ as well! On every car I have ever owned .... I have gotten within a quarter mile (in either direction) what the sticker said ... On every car my wife has ever owned - she has averaged almost 2 miles less than what is on the sticker .... That tells you all you need to know about the cars we have owned and their MPG to EPA compliance ...
  9. Occasionally, but I think once you get used to it ... you should be ok ... it's not the most responsive I test drove, but it is certainly not the worst ....
  10. All dealers (who are worth anything) should give the X plan for hybrid models .... mine was a hybrid and I got X plan! Ask the dealer for verified X-plan pricing ..... if they wont give it to you - go find another dealer!
  11. Yes, the adaptive cruise control is the winner on this car for my opinion ... unquestioned! that and the ECO cruise feature!
  12. I know they're not technically considered "Accessories", but i thought this might be a good reference link for those of us who own the 2013 MKZ Hybrid: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Primacy+MXM4&partnum=445VR8MXM4P&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&autoMake=Lincoln&autoYear=2013&autoModel=MKZ%20Hybrid&autoModClar= (these are the exact same tires that came with my hybrid, 18-inch versions) seeing that there is no spare (donut or otherwise) ... I'll be ordering at least 2 of these to have on hand!
  13. You know - I'm torn on this too ...... on one hand, it does look great but yes some things dont look quite lined up properly ..... xg - is there wood trim on the cupholder coverings as well? I'd be curious to see the pics of the door interiors as well ..... John
  14. I had seen reports that it was 8.3 .....
  15. Ok folks - I noticed this earlier but it slipped my mind until I was reminded of it again today ... My gas tank gauge gives its first warning at 10.17 gallons (give or take a tenth of a gallon) - goes to "yellow" .... Then at 11.07 gallons (used) it goes to "red" .... ok not a huge deal .... but in doing so the gauge shows what almost looks like a "negative" bars view. then at 11.5 it goes back to yellow ....... and it is out of the "negative" ..... according to the tank's size of 13.5 gallons .... I still have 2 gallons left ... A similar behavior happened on my last tank ...... and when I ended up filling up - the gas pumped and the gas that the gauge reported that I had used were within 1/10th of a gallon (both times I've filled up) Anyone else seen this ....? Are they trying to brow beat us into never letting the tank get below 2.5 gallons ?
  16. Oh one more point about those April numbers for the MKZ..... Lincoln said that MKZ buyers are spending 20% more per car than they did last year. While the 2013 bases slightly higher than the 2012, this 20% can be largely attributed to higher trim levels. In a certain sense, higher trim levels equate to the "luxury experience" which is what Lincoln is trying to achieve. Once this trend is established, new buyers will look to do the same, and dealers will be ordering fewer and fewer base trim cars for their dealer inventories. This could take 5 years before the MKZ (by itself) really gets a foothold. But all things considered 4012 units is not all that bad when you compare to the 5000 done by the Lexus ES in April.
  17. Yup! :-) I was stuck at home Tuesday - and didn't get a chance to drive at all So come Wed, I figured I needed to make it up some! :-)
  18. Tonight - I had a nice 42.7 mile run which produced a 49.8 MPG rating ..... :-)
  19. re 2030 ..... I sense some sarcasm here .... :-)
  20. Looks encouraging! but when you look deeper ... if it were not for the MKZ, Lincoln sales would be down again ...... The MKS, MKT, MKX are all floundering .... http://finance.yahoo.com/news/ford-motor-company-u-sales-133000454.html http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2012/10/lincoln-brand-sales-figures-usa-canada.html
  21. I received a nice surprise today in the mail ..... A $100 gift card in the mail from Lincoln thanking me for my patience and commitment to The 2013 MKZ! This is separate from the Lincoln Makers program bespoke gift which I am also eligible for ..... Good stuff .... :-)
  22. I'm still waiting for my little brown box :-( Kim - you're almost there ....... :-) Enjoy your weekend! (and drive lots!)
  23. The one thing I will say about this car ...... you have to learn how to drive this particular hybrid the "right way" .... not sure who it was but using the "Empower" gauge is definitely the way to go .... When driving city - "Pulse and glide" once you are in the blue ..... use adaptive cruise control as much as possible (with ECO option turned on), remember - there is nothing wrong with "gunning it" to get up to your desired speed as long as you come off the gas and settle into a "blue zone" on the gauge. When driving highway - no doubt about it ..... if you are willing to drive at times in one of the 2 right most lanes on the highway and keep your speed at the 62MPH threshold or less - you will definitely see better numbers .... My guess is if you drive highway a lot at > than 72 MPH - you probably will not see more than about 35-36 MPG on this car; If you are willing to make some adjustments to your driving style (I know I have in comparison to how i drove my Chrysler 300M) ..... you should be able to come darn close to that 41-42 zone; I doubt 45 is sustainable over any single tank of fuel ......
  24. No mine is just fine ..... I'll admit that it was a bit "jarring" the first time it came on (someone slammed on their brakes just in front of me) ........ but I've had no problems with over-sensitivity ...... John
