  1. Obviously it's a much bigger deal when Ford closes plants and moves the work overseas. But the point I am trying to make is it will be a lot easier to get the cleaners and some other in plant jobs that are currently outsourced back, than it would be to get Ford to bring back a whole product line and re-open a closed plant. I understand that cleaners had easy jobs and some didn't do a whole lot of work. I don't know how it is at your plant but where I work there are a lot more jobs where people don't really do much work. If they got rid of every good/easy job we would be seeing 1000's of people laid off. Negotiating to get these jobs back is a fight the UAW could possibly win and any jobs brought back to ford is better than nothing.
  2. Littlecountry, littlepecker, it makes no difference what his screen name is. He always has been and always will be the same illiterate shit talker.
  3. Littlecountry, littlepecker. It doesn't matter what his
  4. When I read the stuff u post on here it makes me think you're an over weight 5th grade child who gets picked on every day. Is that why you post these types of comments? are u tired of being teased and picked on by the bigger boys so u have to take out your aggression on the internet??? not once in my post did I ever mention getting rid of AWS. I did say that some of the issues need to be addressed during this years contract negotiations. "Accept AWS or quit" lol. maybe u really are a fat 10 year old kid, you sure do talk like one
  5. thats funny you talk about seniority quite a bit. You don't know me. How can u make such a stab in the dark idiotic comment like that when u don't know a thing about me??? I used to be a cleaner before they got rid of them. and I have a good job now, I'm sure it's better than whatever assembly job you're on.
  6. Lol. Ok guy. I know exactly what jobs used to be Ford jobs and now they're not. At my plant we have probably around 100 jobs that are done by other companies that used to be our jobs. And I'm pretty sure you don't have a clue about how anyting works. All you do is post ignorant comments constantly on this forum, just to piss people off. Go run your mouth to someone who gives a shit
  7. They will definitely have to address some of the AWS issues in the upcoming negotiations. I don't know about all of the other plants but at Sterling there was not one dept working AWS before this last contract took effect and I'm not positive about Van dyke but I know there's a whole lot more depts working AWS now than before this contract. I don't think a lot of people really realized how shitty 3 and 4 crew schedules really are. Some people liked the idea of it because you get so many extra days off. But now that they've done it for a couple years and have had to work some holidays and weekends for straight time you're starting to see more and more people hating it. People are also starting to get tired and worn out, these type of work schedules are not good at all on your body.
  8. When it comes to plants that have been shut down and outsourced there's not a whole hell of a lot that can be done about it, ford doesn't want to make them parts anymore so they got rid of the work. When it comes to cleaners etc. etc. jobs working in your plant that we used to do but Ford is trying to save a few dollars by hiring an outside company to do it now, that's a whole different story in my book. These are jobs that IUAW could possibly do something about getting them back, closed plants they don't have a chance of getting that work back. A few years back Ford outsourced our Hilo drivers but it didn't last long and we got them jobs back. This is just my opinion, if u don't agree I couldn't care less
  9. Parts/plants that Ford has outsourced/shut down would not be considered tier 3 in my opinion. But jobs such as cleaners and people who certify parts inside Ford plants I would consider 3rd tier workers. Especially since those jobs used to be Our jobs that Ford outsourced and UAW didn't seem to put up much of a fight.
  10. Well I can't afford to support my family and pay all my bills when I'm earning less than I did over a decade ago. Mark Fields got over 80% raise from last year. We can't even get a 1% raise. I can't see IUAW getting us one this contract either. How can a bunch of uneducated shop guys who are only where they are because they had a friend get them promoted to IUAW compete with Fords team of Ivy League lawyers??? Years ago UAW got what they wanted through threat of strikes and members sticking together. Today the company knows IUAW is weak and have no balls whatsoever, and membership is divided.
  11. They're all a bunch of Hypocrites!!! They constantly say how we need to get our pay down closer to asian autoworkers so we can stay competitive. Toyota's CEO earned $1.7 million and Honda's earned $1.5 million last year. If they want us to be like the Asians they gotta start at the top.
  12. It really doesn't matter to me who runs for an elected position, as long as they know what they're doing. I have seen some tier 2 run for comm spots and have absolutely no clue about the contract. Then again I have seen MANY tier 1 comm men who have no idea WTF they're doing. My comm now doesn't have a clue. I'd put money on it that he's never even read the contract. In my opinion any person who wants to run for a committee job should have to take some kind of a test proving they have some basic knowledge of the contract. 75% of all comm men I know won elections on plant floor popularity, not because they're qualified to represent us.
  13. And chairman and few went international
  14. Yes they can. When It comes time for a tier 2 at Sterling or Rawsonville to get bumped up they will be placed in another plant.
  15. 2nd tier employees at Sterling and Rawsonville will have a chance at becoming tier 1. When a 2nd tier employee from one of them plants becomes eligible for tier 1 they will have to be moved to another plant. I don't know how that will work exactly, it'll be interesting to see when the time comes
  16. we also have different levels 1, 2 and 3. For machining a level 1 is just like a grunt worker pack out jobs and such that don't require any type of skill or thought to do. A level 3 usually has a lot of responsibility and takes quite a bit of training.
  17. Machining classification means you work in a machining dept, operating machines lathes, mills etc. etc. Assembly classifications are the line workers. Then we have all different trades classifications. That's how Sterling and Van dyke are, not sure about at her plants because I've never been anywhere else
  18. Sterling is about 1/2 assembly and 1/2 machining classifications
  19. I agree 100%. I could never understand why every single detail of our job is in the newspapers. All they print are all the benefits and bonuses we get. You rarely ever read a story about all the concessions we've been forced to take over the last couple contracts. Or how we make a wage today that was pretty good over a decade ago but in todays economy is much harder to survive on. What I would like to know is who are the ones feeding the press these stories?? And why dont the UAW have any PR people to tell the public the whole truth instead of these one sided BS articles we always see in the papers.
  20. Ok thanks guys. Hey Vader don't copy everything fuzzy says.
