  1. I didn't think I was coming back, after last year's accident totaled my 14 fusion with 11K miles on it. But I picked up my 16 Fusion Ti with Platinum White tricote on Wednesday.
  2. Ack, wrong forum, thought this was the Explorer forum.
  3. I wasn't worried about the screws, but there are also two plastic tabs that you have to pop, and I figured those would break quickly. I had my car four months before it was totaled, and did two oil changes, the first at 3k and the second at 10k. I average around 30k miles a year, and wasn't looking forward to futzing with those plastic tabs in winter when the plastic would be brittle.
  4. Now that I have an Explorer and have become active on another site and forum, there is mention of MFT reboots causing the lighting to reset back to the default - I think it's called Ice Blue - color. I wonder if you're experiencing that which might also cause #1 which was the easy entry/exit tied to a key fob. From what I hear, you won't really every see the MFT reboot, because it happens when the car is off. I too had problems every once in a while with the unlock. One thing that I noticed was I often put my thumb near the "Lock" area of the handle, and when I changed the way I grasped the door handle, it seemed to alleviate my issue with the touch unlock.
  5. Thanks Hydro, and again everyone for the well wishes. I too hope this is my last accident!
  6. Yes, you all were correct, the inflatable rear seatbelts were optional, and not a part of the BLIS on the 2014 model. I just "confirmed" that with my salesman. It appears he can't read very well On the side, we're all set to take delivery of a 2014 Explorer Limited, once the total loss paperwork is done and the old account closed.
  7. Thanks again, I appreciate the insight. I'll prep up for having to deal with some of it - in the hopes that it doesn't come to that.
  8. Thanks for that info, I've never dealt with GAP before, so was hoping it wouldn't require me to play middle man. Hopefully my Adjustor can play that role - since I'm letting my insurance process the vehicle and then attempt to recoup from the other party.
  9. Thanks! Sorry about yours and the fighting you had to do. I've got GAP so I don't have to haggle about fair market. I had ESS, and Ford Credit called me last night letting me know they have paperwork on the way for me to sign to roll that off the loan amount. For the inflatable seat belts, my salesman did pull the paper work, and while they are an option, when you select the Drivers' Assist which includes BLIS, it automatically adds the inflatable belts, and it shows that way on my paperwork. So I'm going to get some pictures of the car and those seat belts and he will get it into the proper channels at Ford for their review. I'm sure they'll want all the telemetry from the computers as well. I'll sleep better knowing that Ford QA has looked at the events to see if there was just a single issue or if they need to look at something in the system.
  10. Thanks again for the well wishes and relief that we're ok. That's really all that's important to me.
  11. I'm going to have to go through my car's paperwork. I had the BLIS system, and I think that defaulted to include the Rear Inflatable Seat Belts, but those did not deploy. Every other airbag in the car went off - side curtains, rear side curtains, driver's and passenger's knee bags, steering wheel, passenger dash. Odd.
  12. Thanks gents. I am very happy with the crash performance of the vehicle. Heck, I think that even 10 years ago, this would have resulted in major injuries for most involved.
  13. Ugh, where do I begin! If you read my introduction post, you will recall that I bought a 2014 Fusion Ti to replace my 2010 Fusion SEL that was totaled when I was rear ended on the interstate during an late season ice storm. That was back at the end of April that I took delivery of the new Fusion. Last weekend, an allegedly drunk driver decided to cross the divided highway in front of me while I was traveling 55 MPH with my wife and two young boys in the back. It was 8 PM, and my auto-headlamps were on. I never saw his SUV (I think an older Jimmy or Bronco, possibly an old Ford Explorer) until he was across the median (He was on my left crossing to my right). I won't get into details of the accident, I hit his vehicle and then a pick up truck that was stopped at the same intersection waiting to cross the highway in the other direction. One of the officers thinks I was doing about 45 when we hit that stopped car. I believe the Fusion saved our lives - every bag deployed. We ended up with severe seat belt mark, a few small scrapes, and that's it. The Fusion, plus some guardian angels kept us protected. I've added three pictures of my 4 month old car that just rolled 10k. Honestly, I think Fusion is out of my future, I know it's not logical, but sometimes the heart is a compass as well.
  14. I've pulled down the rear dome light in my 14 Ti, and it's just an LED soldered on a circuit board. No housing, nothing. If I remember correctly you have to pull very hard starting at the rear of the housing, but it's just clipped into the headliner. I have the moon roof, I'm assuming the front lights / map lights mount a little differently between moon roof and standard headliners. I did not see an easy way to remove that, but I was able to feel along the housing by sticking my fingers between the moon roof liner and the light housing, and I'm pretty sure it also is just an LED mounted on a circuit board. The trunk light as stated previously is just a plastic clip and pull the entire housing out to swap the bulb. In my Ti, the dome / map lights are white LEDs, I don't detect any yellow at all.
  15. Thanks for the information. To deadman64's point, it's a smart timer. It doesn't test viscosity or contamination levels.
  16. I just dumped my factory fill at 3K. I'll be doing them between 5k and 7k from now on. That will change depending on how the oil looks coming out. deadman64, based on the fact that you can reset the oil life to a set amount - 100%, 90%, 80%, I'd wager it's based on mileage.
  17. I got my Fusion at the end of April. My dealer was able to find one that had everything I wanted - so I didn't have to order. He checked VINCENT the day I walked on the lot and we started talking. He said that I didn't have any Private Cash offers. I went home that night, started looking online for this "Private Cash" and read about requesting a Fusion brochure as a way to get one. I submitted a request that night. The following Monday I got a brochure in the email - nut never saw a coupon for $750. About a week later I was ready to close the deal on my car, and dealer did one last run through VINCENT, and there was my name. So as of end of April, it was still working. I never did see an actual coupon.
  18. You are correct, the rearview mirror almost doesn't tint at all - unless I have a truck tail gating me. With the drivers side mirror, it still dims, however with my 35% tint it is still fine for night driving.
  19. Rohell, I was able to use these from Jtech. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00877SL2M They fit right in the wedge base.
  20. I was able to do the replacement myself. On the driver's side, I was able to pry the lens off the body without much effort. On the passenger's side I used an old serrated steak knife to carefully cut around where the lens fits inside the body and popped it off. I replaced the incandescent bulbs with the Putco LED that Jamers linked to on the original post. I didn't have the exact resistor Jamers used, I had a bunch of 68 ohm 1 Watt resistors, so I used two on each puddle lamp. Interestingly on my 2014, the only issue I noticed when connected without any resistors was a very - and I mean VERY - dim glow from the LEDs. They lit up and seemed to dim without issue.
  21. In my 2010 Fusion, I had the auto-dimming rear view, and 35% metallic on the back window. I could see fine during the day, and at night, I noticed that the mirror hardly ever dimmed. With my 2014 Titanium, I have the dimming driver's side mirror, so I'm curious how that will impact night driving - I have 35% metallic on the sides and backs. Since it's outside of the car, I'm assuming it will still dim - I just haven't driven enough at night to notice the effect of the tint on the 14.
  22. Here's a pic of the 2010 Fusion. Damage was substantial to the trunk space, back corner of the frame, and while hard to see on that picture, rear quarter panel and both drivers side doors. The driver's door had the handle and keyless entry pad torn off. The other driver slid around on the left shoulder (I was in the left lane and stopped for traffic) when I saw him coming and put my head and back against the seat and headrest. He hit my corner, spun around and slid up backwards against the driver's side of my car. He came to stop with him facing the wrong way and we were looking at each other through the side windows.
  23. Hi All! I've been lurking for almost a month now. I previously owned a new 2010 Fusion SEL - Tuxedo Black. My baby was rear-ended on April 14th during a late season ice storm and totaled out (it was in perfect shape, but had 95k miles on it). Two weeks ago I bought a new 2014 Fusion Titanium FWD also Tuxedo Black. I've already had the windows tinted, 35% on all but the windshield, metallic film. Options include Nav, Moonroof, Black H Rims, Heated Seats, and the Driver Assist package. I've also swapped the license plate, trunk, and puddle lamps with LED's. Thinking about the backup lights - probably won't invest the effort in swapping in fogs or HIDs. I am seriously thinking about getting 16" Steels and Blizzaks or other Winter tires. Attached is a pic I took last week while walking out of a store - so that's why it's somewhat dark and blurry. I loved my 2010 Fusion, and so far love my Titanium even more!
