  1. Good maybe the keyboard warriors also want to get back to work lol
  2. Agreed, I believe it will be ratified. I think most of the people want to get back to work. You will have your it’s not good enough element but I don’t think it will be enough to prevent ratification. The paltry 500 a week strike pay doesn’t pay the bills.
  3. Let’s hope the UAW Ford membership votes in favor of this contracts and ends this situation for 4.8 years.
  4. The government money was for BEVs. What large vehicle would move to Oakville unless is was some existing ICE vehicle. We kind of already know this will not happen we’re just playing devils advocate worse case scenario here. We all know these moves aren’t overnight. OAC is green and red tagged all over the place right now. Green for remove red for keep on piping and machinery etc etc. They already have their planning and blueprints in place. Retool kinda has begun in very early stages. When edge is down and they kick us out then major work begins.
  5. Maybe again should start paying the strikers 1000 dollars a week. He himself I’m sure isn’t financially hurting from this now too long and stupid strike. Ya even I’m saying it’s stupid now they have a good deal on the damn table.
  6. It’s the built in American perception move which I believe was a good move. Obviously if they were built in Mexico they would’ve been cheaper. Big marketing ploy from Ford in terms of more American built vehicles to draw in consumers which wasn’t stupid. This strike has gotten ugly and now the way they do business in the future is probably under review more than ever.
  7. No problem! Only time will tell if anymore product beyond the two BEVs that are promised join the line up at OAC. Ford demolished the old Ford Talbotville St Thomas Assembly Plant so I can’t see them building a greenfield vehicle assembly plant ever in Canada. Oakville expansion is even a long shot. Mexico or elsewhere is what i think is the more possible scenario. The UAW already has a better contract than us and they haven’t even reached a tentative agreement yet so they may be similar but uaw contract I believe will be more COSTLY.
  8. Very good points and their plans are a huge mystery right now. I agree that until this strike is over there will be no announcements about anything. I don’t doubt at all that they will consider expanding in Mexico or elsewhere. I feel like their electrification plans are hitting a major snag right now. Their sales forecasts are not being reached so I’m feeling skeptical I hope the situation improves. We have been told by union the last Nautitlus out of final is December 5th. No specific date for edge yet in 2024. Only vague retool info. I hope ford gets this right down the road this EV planning I mean.
  9. That ship sailed when Ontario Truck Plant closed in 2004 and they merged it with Oakville assembly plant. Oakville was the only place they built those old f-150 lightnings. I don’t see trucks going back there and I don’t know what I see in regards to their EV plans there either.
  10. We are the ass crack of ford they will not build another plant in Canada lol
  11. I would be pissed off too if we had went on strike and been off for 5 weeks. I know you’re LIVID and rightfully so! Your contract as it is is already better than what we got up here in Canada. It’s time for this fuckery to end, this hardline stance shit is stupid now especially when we all know and they fuckin know some of the demands are nonsensical.
  12. That’s a better way of putting it. Unifor GM 80 percent ratification much better than our 54 percent at Ford up here. The reason for that is when GM Oshawa reopened they hired 1-2000 people so of course they would vote in favor because in progression much lower and now and a substantial pay bump. I don’t blame them. I can’t predict when this UAW situation is gonna end. UAW and Ford both seem resolute at this current moment. When the smoke clears all business plans will be reviewed in terms of future operations and investments. I tell people this at work I get blasted. OH WELL. I know this much it’s not the old days, way too many other companies out there now. It’s a cutthroat environment.
  13. That’s why I keep asking what will the fallout of all this be? There will be retaliation in some form.
  14. Yes I agree in a very corporate and polite manner.
  15. I totally agree, we don’t even build 200000 Edge Nautilus anymore. When the Flex and Mkt were around we hit over 200000 but not now. ESPECIALLY since 2020 and covid and microchip shortages. By 2025 at least EV adoption should increase and these are gen 2 products so I hope for the best. I see a lot of work maybe in the beginning to get them to market then after they who knows. I still don’t understand what the hell they’re trying to do if the styling is controversial. To me that means it’s damn ugly lol. Ford ain’t Tesla and can’t get away with making ugly Cybertruck or bubble looking somewhat stylish crossovers. To anyone who has seen these vehicles are they better than our Edge and Nautilus?? If not, STEP BACKWARDS!
  16. Like I said I hope that they can sell. Ford has to be competitive in the styling department too. Farley projecting 200,000 sales of this and the Lincoln crossover??? God I hope he’s right. When we had our online zoom ratification meeting they mentioned a possible third product down the line at OAC. I can’t see that being anything else other than another version of what’s already there. I suppose maybe we will see what these things look like sometime in 2024 one would think.
  17. Fuzzy has every right to be frustrated as far as I’m concerned. It’s time for a deal not anymore of these videos. Strike pay isn’t enough and overplaying your hand is stupid at this point.
  18. So why would they release something that’s looks like crap??? This is why I’m skeptical about this project. I can see a lot of downtime sorry to say. It’s too early to talk but they project 200000 units per year. Seems far fetched to me.
  19. They need to get them right, if they had to go back to change some designs for the better then good!
  20. Which we’re still waiting to see! What’s with the secrecy in regards to these products?? Will this strike if prolonged affect future product rollouts??
  21. Yeah also because ford vehicles are pretty expensive. How many so called affordable vehicles do they have??? Maybe only Maverick and Escape???
  22. More likely Mexico than Canada. I can’t see another greenfield car assembly plant ever coming again from ford in this country of Canada. They downsized ford of Canada down to a minimal footprint to their operations. Our contract passed but barely passed. Fein has raised everyone’s expectations it seems. The question is at what cost?
  23. I do agree that Ford will likely retaliate long term for these actions. I can see them investing further in Mexico sadly. Our unifor contract barely passed the uaw would’ve thrown it in the trash lol with what they’re demanding. I really just hope this gets resolved soon. It’s really the pension that are a MAJOR sticking point and the battery plants. I said it along time ago I just don’t believe legacy pensions are returning. I’ve been blasted by some people at work for saying that. SO BE IT!
  24. That’s true, I guess I meant worst case scenario but I guess we’re at that point in all reality.
  25. If this situation goes on for months then arbitration maybe needed.
