  1. Yikes! Well that does sound like a disaster. No way in hell does not cost reductions make it any good. F that shit!
  2. Nothing is rolling out of Oakville assembly in 2024. I think you know that anyways. I believe there will be no saleable units til 2025 at the earliest. Rumored Edge extension til May 2024. 6 month retool you get the picture.
  3. In regards to what you’re saying about OAC I REALLY hope they lay out some more information soon. There are things going on at the plant I see lots of contractors and engineers walking around. It could have something to do with Chicago and the UAW WHO KNOWS as to why they changed the styling. Like I’ve said several times I can’t see one saleable unit coming out of here til mid 25 at the earliest. I believe though after the contract smoke clears more info with be forthcoming.
  4. Yep I’m fully aware of that as it seems many people are opposed to it down there as far as I know.
  5. Kinda sounds like uaw and American healthcare is way more expensive than in Canada. We do pay 97.20 CAD deductible quarterly here. I don’t even know all the costs for other healthcare items in our collective bargaining agreement off the top of my head.
  6. I agree and I really hope that Ford has a good plan because things are constantly evolving . Tesla is a tough competitor that’s forsure.
  7. The last thing we need at OAC is a sales flop after 3 years of roughly 20 weeks a year downtime! 2023 has been the steadiest we’ve worked since 2019 with 6 down weeks only this year. We will be down for a long retool next year according to ford. It will be nice if anything we build sells. I know in the beginning we will build and scale up my hope is that it’s maintained. Too early to worry anyways.
  8. I really hope so because it’s time Ford shows something now. It makes me think they’re constantly making changes behind the scenes.
  9. People want the deductible GONE believe me but I don’t think it will. In the good old days I used to pay 35 cents Canadian for majority of medications. The UAW will certainly be pushing to union BOC but like you said ford is gonna want stuff from the unions as well so it’s gonna be interesting.
  10. I think this is a mess makes me wonder what else Ford will be pushing back.
  11. I really hope that whatever OAC is supposed to get isn’t some ugly piece of shit FLOP. The Mach-E is a great product and it’s not doing well I can’t help but be concerned. Maybe that’s why Ford has nothing to show since 2019 when these two crossover EVs were announced that have been bounced around to be built at various plants before OAC was chosen for now I guess lol. I see GM unveiling their products what the hell is going on with these????
  12. The company lost billions before and UAW and then CAW had to give loads of concessions. I would not work for free and I know it’s more complex and no need to debate. I’m realistic that not all of the demands that are being presented will fly. I for one want a raise and believe it’s deserved. I believe lower tier employees need better benefits pensions less of a grow in. Will it all happen???? Probably not. I also want to hear from Ford more about what’s going on at my plant with the lame duck edge rumored now to be extended til May 2024. We don’t even have a name of product or nothing then I gotta listen to Jim Farley talking about PHEV. Anyways enough I getting long winded lol.
  13. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that but these corporations need to give us workers our fair share!
  14. I had to edit my previous response. I watched the video where he mentioned all three going on strike at once. I see that as very possible but if that scenario doesn’t take place then I believe the target will be Stellantis. I base this on the Belvedere plant situation and the issues they have up here in Canada. I think UAW AND UNIFOR will target them.
  15. I FIRMLY believe that Stellantis will be the target of both UAW and UNIFOR. I don’t believe it will be Ford at all.
  16. The amount of money being pumped into this EV transition by these governments and corporations it would be a catastrophe if it fails. I believe EVs are here to stay it’s just gonna take time like we all know.
  17. Yes they’re on an older platform and they should’ve been hybrid and on a better platform. They cancel them then all of a sudden a hybrid Nautilus is coming from China. Let’s see how much their BEV plans change. Which I expect they will!
  18. Although Oakville is being retooled it still pisses me off that these vehicles were not electrified or upgraded at this plant. I hope these BEV products are worth losing the Edge and Nautilus here. I thought the Edge was being removed because Ford has too many 2 row crossovers.
  19. It’s likely still done next year in its current form. They did say second quarter 2024 to retool for all I know they can stretch it til next July shutdown.
  20. I can’t help but be extremely concerned about these terrible Mach-E sales in N/A and China. Since my plant is supposed to get two mystery EV crossovers I have every right to be concerned with these dismal sales. I know it’s still two years away before these products even see a dealer but unless things start changing I fear the products might FLOP. I know it’s too early to jump the gun here, after the contract and when ford changes their plans once again there may be some more clarity. There is also a rumor going around at the plant that the lame duck Edge may get extended til the end of May 2024 now from the March cancellation time. This information which could be false came from someone who works at a supplier. Anyways I’m rambling on the bottom line is this EV transition has a long long way to go. The Mach-E is a nice product but too me it’s too expensive.
  21. Yup it’s all about competitiveness in this cutthroat industry.
  22. The UAW is well aware and will try to organize this plant forsure, make no mistake about it!
