  1. What about Oakville was rushed?? The decision to get rid of the Edge too early? Or the product that they still can’t get right it seems??
  2. We will see how much they mitigate this as they say they’re going to
  3. I agree but there’s no changing course anymore. They made the moves they feel is best for the company. With the Edge on the way out we will see how much sales of their other crossovers and suvs increase.
  4. They know that whatever they’re designing isn’t gonna sell well so back to the drawing board yet again. If they somehow change the plan yet again and pull out of Canada the federal and provincial government should demand their money back and slap some tariffs on ford. Can anyone tell me in here when a plant has been idled and restarted after a three year pause that wasn’t closed down first?! I got over 25 years I’ll be ok what about the ppl with less seniority? This is all just crap!
  5. I agree with you, he explicitly said the Mach-E is way better than the Edge and we don’t want commodity products we want passion products lol. They realize the product they’re working on probably wouldn’t even sell 50000 a year so that’s why we’re in this mess. Some people honestly believe the next step will be a plant closure. I won’t go that far yet, anything is possible with Ford.
  6. Farley never had any intention of continuing the commodity product Edge. He would rather have an assembly plant site idle til 2027 which is insane! I don’t believe this study bullshit.
  7. Well, maybe if it’s so nice Ford needs to go forward with the damn product instead of potentially shelving it!
  8. It will be a shame if Ford can’t produce a competitive electric Lincoln. All I have seen is rumors then cancellations. Rivian based Lincoln cancelled, Lincoln Corsair-e cancelled, and now it’s uncertain what Lincoln will even do going forward. This is ridiculous.
  9. It’s installed and I walked around it and took a look. The stairs to access it are chained off with a small chain. I found it interesting that I only seen u759 on the new computers and machinery and no u760. I really hope this delay is for the better. People are worried and upset at the plant.
  10. I’ve also seen a small u759 training cell set up in Body 1 at OAC that is now chained off. I’m sure you know about that.
  11. Where is U760??? What’s going on with the Lincoln version? It seems to be taking ford way longer than two years since these products were announced in 2019. I hope this delay is worth it. 3 years later to release a garbage low selling product will be an ABJECT FAILURE!
  12. At this point anything can happen in regards to this project. I agree that it should’ve just been a new Edge/Nautilus redesign. I suppose Ford is playing the long game as Electric is supposedly the future.
  13. That seems to be the plan, even in my area in the body shops they’ve made structural improvements and have ran electrical conduits. There are huge spools of wiring lying around and the contractors are there business as usual doing prep work.
  14. I agree, they are buying time that’s forsure. Carry on with the retooling and reconstruction of the plant and then take it from there. They’re still working away I seen a big freight helicopter there and it was bringing in structural beams. If ford had no intention to do anything there then it would be pointless to upgrade the site.
  15. I like your assessment and do I ever hope you’re right. I know you read their statement and it seems that they still plan to go all EV at Oakville if it even happens at this point. Edge Nautilus Hybrids are what should’ve been placed there. How many more times are these guys gonna switch up plans? This is ridiculous now. Makes me wonder if building Blueovalcity was even required. Unless something changes it seems like they will have overcapacity problems.
  16. The plan will change multiple times before then. Who knows, maybe by then they’ll just close the plant. I believe those with very low seniority are just gonna quit and move on. I sure as hell won’t be sitting around for that duration of time worrying about Ford. I know I speculate alot but this situation is garbage.
  17. Blueovalcity product launch is 2026, as for us at Oakville there ain’t a damn thing we can do but go into contingency mode.
  18. Basically the same information as the paper we got from Ford directly. This crappy news is all over the place now.
  19. According to Ford it’s about improving battery tech. I also hope it’s to improve the looks of that what appears to be a giant Prius under the tarp we all seen.
  20. Yup you misread that bigtime.
  21. We sure did see it coming, still frustrating as hell for everyone at the plant.
