With higher prices and no EV credit, it essentially is getting a $15k price bump (up to 8k price increase plus 7500 tax credit). I’m not a buyer at that price.

Instead of giving money for buying an EV, the government should have used the money to build out the electric infrastructure. More charging stations would help adoption by reducing range anxiety. Higher adoption should lead to lower prices due to economies of scale.

    That makes more sense..

Nice car!  I had an '04 GT for 12 years and will always have a soft spot for the SN95 New Edge cars (99 to 04). Yes the newer incarnations are better but for late 90s engineering it was an nice car for the money.

Yeah they've definitely have grown on me haha. I appreciate the design much more than I did before, not just as an owner but from a eye on design perspective. I think their respect will continue to grow, much like the Fox Body.

And I still see new edge stangs on the road often which is nice.

So drop the 2.3L because it doesn't sell enough.  But keep the GT Hybrid's unique rear only electric motor setup?   Which is different than the Escape...

Doesn't make sense to me.  Pretty much dropped any reason I would have gone for the Corsair.  I'll just get an Escape Hybrid.  They will have 5 trims to choose from.

Yeah if I were in the market, I'd go for the 2.3 but every review I'd read of the Corsair has said the 2.3 wasn't really worth the upgrade over the 2.0. Not a big enough difference in driving experience apparently.

Except, arguably what has made Tesla successful (aside from the technology aspect) initially is that the Model S looked like a normal car and not some clown car or shoebox.  It was a great looking CAR.  And an EV on top of that.

Yeah you have a point.. I can agree with that. Also, their EV was more performance than eco.

I can definitely see designing more concepts in general helping motivate and excite design teams, and getting the public interests: whatever that looks like.

I like the idea of more concepts again, but make them reasonable/feasible looking - some of the way out there ones are dumb, IMO.

I think shooting way out there pushes design and engineering.  If you're designing thinking only what's feasible today then it's going to be slow walk up innovation alley... Which we've arguably seen already in the industry.

I know some like to throw salt on Tesla for a dozen and one reasons but we would not be talking about or producing electric cars the way we are now if it wasn't for Tesla being innovative and pushing the needle.

I'm mostly disappointed in concepts when a following production model isn't satisfying. And not because it's not feasible, but because the company doesn't give them what they need to make it feasible.

    Speaking generally...

He’s correct that the Edge program isn’t dead per say…..the China Edge program is continuing and moving towards its full redesign but the Edge program for NA was shelved. Unless something changed recently but I don’t think it did.

Ah okay that makes sense. Thanks for that.

I've always been a fan of the Edge. And thought it always had potential to actually, push the edge for Ford. Pun Intended. Do what the name entails. I remember the first gen Edge tag-line, something like "Ford lives on the Edge" or something, with the Edge driving on top of buildings... That was fun...

Doesn't quite make sense to me, though, as it's well known Edge is on the way out via a BEV replacment.  Why would you come out with a similar product if you're set to replace that product?

Though I guess if they introduce a more upright "Explorer Sport", that could allow them to push an Edge BEV in a more sporting, coupe-like direction since it wouldn't need to be as practically shaped with another 2-row midsizer in the showroom.

I've been seeing those reports about the Edge but I don't think that it's true.

I'm am design student here in Detroit and a few of my instructors currently work in the industry full time.

I am in class now and he confirmed that he's currently assisting on the next gen Edge. I explicitly asked about the cancelation reports and he said "No, I'm filled up with Edge parts." I leave his exact answer out but I did I ask him was it ICE or BEV, he talked about why it made sense for Ford "separated" the EV work, what it means for engineers & designers, and how Ford it committing to still producing ICE models for the time being. I asked him about timeframe, and he said in general, at this stage, it's likely about a year and a half from being on the road.

So unless he's mistaken, the Edge isn't dead.
