  1. My truck has been sitting at the Orlando trucking depot for 3 weeks now (Order date 9/21/21.) They keep kicking the delivery date down the road. Orlando is a 3-hour drive and I've paid for the truck and done all of the paperwork. If they would let me, I would go get it and deliver it to the dealership. I think Ford should give the depots 5 days to deliver the vehicle. If they miss the date, the dealer should be allowed to pick up the vehicle. Any shipping payments due to the depot would go to the dealer. Crappy service should have consequences. -G
  2. Great point. For the most part, the truck will be used to pull my 18,000 pound RV and an occasional "I need to run to the store" run. It is purely a guess, but I am thinking that I'll put 10K miles a year on the truck. This might be the first vehicle that I have owned that I didn't run out the warranty by exceeding the miles. The exception to the wait-and-see strategy is that if there was a lifetime warranty like I have on my Jeep, I would jump at that chance to buy it.... we generally keep vehicles for a minimum of 10 years. -G
  3. I had the good fortune of being able to purchase a lifetime warranty for my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. That policy has paid off a few times over (oil cooler, trans, transfer case seals, heater housing.) I'm never concerned about a large unforeseen service bill for that vehicle. In 2003, I purchased a Ford Excursion with a 6.0 diesel. Once the factory warranty ran out, it was always in the back of my mind that the Excursion could leave me stranded with a giant service bill. My 2022 F450 Platinum is on its way to the dealership. Should I get an extended warranty? Are there options for different warranty policies? Thanks -G
  4. That tracks with what my dealer told me. He said that once it had a "day", it is less likely to slip, and if it does, it will only be a day or two. When I had a build "week", it went from March 7th to the 14th to the 21st to April 11th to April 18th and then back to April 11 and lastly back to April 18th. I am glad it is on its way. -J
  5. I'm giving less for my ordered 2022 F450 Platinum than a two-year-old one.... but I had to wait for 7 months. Supply and demand and Amazon timing at its best! Many folks want what they want and they want it now. Wanting it now costs money. -J
  6. My truck's status changed to shipped yesterday... I should have it in 3 weeks or so. My wife and I are full-time RVers. We sold our house in 2016 and moved into a motorhome. We own a lot in an RV resort in SWFL and stay there for 6 months. When things warm up, we leave FL for someplace we have not been before. We love the lifestyle but find that the 45' motorhome limits the places that we can visit. So, we bought the truck and a 38' toy hauler and will use it for summer travel (the motorhome will stay on our lot in FL>) In 1972, I took my DL test in my brother's F100 pickup (manual steering and 3 speed on the column.) In 1976 I bought a new Ford F150 in that same year, I went into the USAF. While in the airforce, I traded the truck in for a Ford Galaxy. After I got out, I traded the Galaxy in on a Ford Thunderbird (4 cylinder Turbo.) In 2003, we got a Ford Excursion (with the 6.0 engine), I still miss that vehicle. Because we travel a lot and like to explore, we got a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (with a lifetime warranty, which I use a lot.) When we leave FL, I will drive the truck and trailer and my wife will follow behind in the Jeep. We are looking forward to getting started in this next chapter.... and will.... as soon as the truck and RV show up at the dealers. Stay safe out there! JohnnyG
  7. My dealer explained that there is a build week and a build date. He said you can have a build week and that typically slips (mine did, quite frequently.) He said once he can see a build date, it is usually pretty solid. At the beginning of April, I had a build week of April 18th but no build date. Two weeks ago, the build date showed up, April 23, shortly after that, the window sticker showed up. On the 23rd, the status changed to "built" and on the 24, the status changed to "shipped". My dealer said to expect the truck in 3 weeks or so. I hope that helps. -J
  8. Roughly, what does it cost to do ceramic coating on an F450? Also, it says it lasts 3 years or so. Would it cost the same to recoat it? Thanks -J
