New 6.7 owner with DEF issues and loss of mpg
787Toolman replied to Imarkdirt's topic in F-Series SuperDuty Forum
This graphic shows how the entire 6.7L engine system is laid out and you can see where the DEF gets injected. If the DEF fluid is of poor quality or like IA Driver said, water and the system is not performing its intended purpose, the DPF will get clogged and cause low power. But since you said you got DEF from a station and had same issue, I'm not sure. What I'm pretty certain of is, if the DPF is clogged, you will have low power and probably higher fuel consumption which is what you said is happening. The graphic is from a 2017 service book. -

I have read a where a bunch of folks are not getting emails, I've been getting them just fine. I suspect that the email address either got written down wrong or the dealer made a mistake in the address submittal or just never did it. I've read where a few have called Ford Customer Service and got them to add it but I'm not sure it was always working afterwards. Maybe someone that knows 100% for certain will chime in shortly and let you know, but I don't think you're alone. -

I found this video; this may help you figure out your issue. I suspect the DPF muffler is clogged and is not getting cleaned thru normal regeneration cycles, but I'm just taking a stab what your issue is and I'm just trying to help. A good dealer and technician should have checked to ensure your DPF is not clogged. I'm not sure if this will also explain the extra consumption of DEF but it may be a symptom of the same issue, but I'm not certain. I'm pretty sure you can manually invoke a DPF regen cycle from your steering wheel menu buttons and select from your instrument cluster screen, but I haven't ever done it on my 2017 6.7L F350 Platinum, mine always works good on its own. ForScan Equipment Requirements

I read it somewhere on their website that's it's Russian but didn't see it with a quick scan today. There is also a link to switch language to Russian at top right of screen. Plus, if it wasn't Russian why would they not be able to sell extended licenses? -

I found this software after doing internet search, has anyone used this in lieu of FORScan? Says you need TouchScan for Windows or OBDwiz, I already have OBDwiz but not TouchScan so according to them, I should be able to add the extension, pricier than FORScan but FORScan is Russian based. what is OPSEC? Have you guys noticed FORScan has suspended extended licensing due to sanctions enacted on Russia? I think we may need to find a new software to access the extended module settings. I was suspecting this might be an issue when Russian Army was surrounding Ukraine's Eastern flank, now that concern has become a reality but one of my concerns was if the software was possibly installing spyware on our computers without us knowing. Might be why they don't offer a Mac version, they are much more difficult to hack. Maybe I'm just paranoid but some paranoia is a good thing IMHO, too much is a problem. What other software is available to access the extended module parameters to non-Ford dealership technicians? -

Does the Ford order tracker not work on Sunday or is it maybe down for maintenance? I can't track my order today; it says I need to enter a valid order number/VIN despite the same numbers working last night. Never mind, it's working now, must have been conducting maintenance. Does production at KTP continue on every day of a week or only Monday-Friday and do they operate three shifts? -

Except on the movie "Cannon Ball Run" where Jackie Chan and co-driver opened the hood of their Subaru and the assembler was still under the hood putting parts on the car, LOL... -

What's your best guess? I'd assume they wouldn't say "built" until everything on the build sheet has been completed or installed. -

2022 F-350 Crew Cab 4x4 Long Bed Order
787Toolman replied to FarmerWill's topic in F-Series SuperDuty Forum
Hello Farmer, the wait is dependent on many factors, I don't think anyone can answer your question as there are too many unknowns. However, I can share my experience, I ordered an F350 King Ranch on Dec 7th, after a month, Ford notified dealer that if I could drop AS, 5th wheel prep and spray in bed liner, I could get scheduled. Sure enough, I got scheduled soon after dropping those three options in Early January, now my truck is in production. See my signature, I have many details as to what I have on order. -

Ice, I searched thru all my email history, I have everything my dealer sent and my replies, I did see one email where my salesman asked me to call him about an issue with my order. When I called, he told me the delay was 29 weeks according to what Ford told them. I spoke with the sales manager who actually does all the order entry in Ford's systems, and he also confirmed the delay for the three options. I had no reason to not believe them so I deleted the options and my order got confirmed a few days later, that was over a month after I placed my order on Dec 7th. So I guess you're correct, the 29 weeks is not written down but it does seem to coincide with a significant wait if you want 5th wheel prep, AS or spray in liner. I'll ask my sales manager if he has any correspondence with Ford for the published delays. -

knock on wood, haha...I know, it's not a funny subject but you did lighten up the stress, so I had to laugh, thanks... -
WNC, if this downshift was not always present and only recently started happening, I suspect it has nothing to do with software otherwise it would have been doing it from day one. If the transmission has some internal wear making metal or debris, this trash can block small orifices, jam spool valves or a clutch pack could have a broken drum or snap ring holding pack together come loose causing a mechanical problem. If a clutch pack normally has an amount of travel of say 0.1" to engage and disengage and a pack snap ring comes out of the end of the pack, it might travel .25" or more causing a clunk and then you notice the pack engagement. Seems like these days, everyone thinks every problem is recorded by computers or is the fault of software and forget the mechanical complexity. I hate that your transmission is giving problems but if I had to diagnose from the outside, I'd say your problem is internal and mechanical and until the dealer removes the transmission and completely takes it apart and inspects every aspect, it will continue and get worse. I apologize for a negative post but I'm a realist. I have never been inside a 10R140 but I have built hundreds of automatics back many years ago before they were computerized.

bshort, I guess I'm not paying enough attention, I meant that post to be directed at thread owner WNC, I guess I need a beer...your truck is newer than WNC's.

Sorry to read of your frustration. Maybe listing your truck configuration will help others know what you ordered and which options you selected. There are a handful of options that have been holding up orders for a long time, AS, spray in bed liner and 5th wheel prep are the most notable. A good dealer knows this and reaches out to the customer and notifies them that if they don't cancel those options, the order might not confirm for 29 or more weeks, that's what my dealer told me almost a month after I ordered on 12/7/2021. After removing those three options, I got my order confirmation a few days later, now my truck is in production after 5 date slides totaling 6 weeks. -

Congrats EB, I think my build will happen very soon, my truck went into production on 3/15 and I have no 5th wheel prep so should be any day now. Enjoy your new truck when you get it. -

no email, I stated that in my reply but maybe I worded it in such a way it wasn't clear. "my 2022 F350 KR SRW CCSB 6.7L with console safe and Antimatter Blue went into production on 3/15, got window sticker but I have not received this email delay. I already had 5 delays before it went into production, so another delay is going to suck. -

Ford 10-speed TRANSMISSION 10R140 Internal GUTS opened up - Look What Happened!! - YouTube This video is about early 2020 10R140 transmissions that experienced a harsh shift from park to drive and vise versa. I read yours is a downshift from fourth to third but it might be the same or similar issue that is causing a harsh downshift to 3rd. Apparently there have been several updates on 10R140 after 2020, pretty sure I've seen a few articles talking about early 10R140 issues but were fixed on later models. I'll keep looking into this to see what I can dig up. Best I can tell, In this video, the transmission is getting swapped out for a new one after the issue was resolved at transmission factory.

Does anyone know all the options that get installed at GFX or some other offsite supplier? I understand the 5th wheel prep, bed covers, spray in liners get installed offsite from KTP but are there other options that get installed offsite that could delay builds like wheel well lines, mud flaps, console safe for example? Thanks
