Glacier Gray Metallic Tri-Coat vs Avalanche
Mylriahd replied to orangepowerguy's topic in F-Series SuperDuty Forum
Definitely can't trust Ford's site, their color guesser on the site is terrible at showing these flatter "clay" colors. I own a Glacier Gray and it is absolutely brighter and lighter than what Ford's site led me to believe. You should be able to see pics online or even see both colors on a dealers lot (maybe not at the same location / same time). Avalanche to me in pics looks like an off white, and is probably the "clay" version of white so a bit more flat than their normal white. The problem is even if you find a side by side picture I don't think it'll help too much -- these colors are so dynamic in real life. I actually love my glacier gray truck, though I was a bit shocked when I went to pick it up. The tone and personality of the color change depending on sunny or cloudy and time of day. Flat pictures don't really communicate that well; I think you are better off finding these colors at a local dealer and seeing them in person to see which one sings to you. Good luck! -
2024 or wait for the 2025 F-250 SD Lariat

And if you can swing x-plan, make sure you get your dealer to agree to it in writing before you order. My dealer screwed me at signing time and I was an idiot for not getting x-plan agreed to in writing. All within their right to not honor it, but I'll never be back. "You can walk and we'll sell this for 10k over MSRP, so it won't hurt our feelings." -
Did you rebuild the hitch after moving from the Tundra? I had to change the height and tilt of the ball when I moved to my F350. You'll need to go through the whole process of getting the hitch head adjusted for the new rig setup. And while you could just go without the spring bars I do find it still smooths out the ride even with the 350 (and the anti-sway is always appreciated in the windy areas.)

For what its worth, RV Life (makers of Trip Wizard) is now Android Auto compatible, and I think Apple Carplay as well. It's been one of the most popular RVing navi apps outside of buying a whole separate Garmin unit. I only mention this because I have never used the Ford navigation because the stuff pulled from my phone is more convenient in almost all ways, especially now that there is an app to handle safe RV navigation.

So first, it does remember your mode, but only for about 24 hours or the next day or something. It'll always return back to "normal" drive mode after a day or so. As for Auto-Start/Stop, the diesel definitely doesn't, and I don't believe the 7.3 gasser does either. EDIT: Worth noting, that I assumed you were asking about the engine starting and stopping. If you meant auto-hold (where the brakes hold themselves when you are stopped, it does not have that unfortunately.)

Diesel and General measurements go blank when in tow mode
Mylriahd replied to dthiss's topic in F-Series SuperDuty Forum
I noticed this as well -- it's only recently I realized that the display reappears if I cancel navigation. I was going to ask how we report this kind of bug to Ford so it can be investigated and solved. That screen is one of the more useful ones when towing. -
Thinking about ordering a custom Super Duty
Mylriahd replied to RbrtLls's topic in F-Series SuperDuty Forum
So many variables. What trim, what features, what accessories, what dealer and how much allocation will they get (which you don't get to know.) Your best strategy is to find a good dealer to work with and talk with them. They are going to want to make promises they have no control over to get you to commit, that's the main risk of getting a good answer to this. But ideally they'll tell you of all the complications and give some sample timelines for similarly equipped trucks they've delivered recently. Otherwise, you dive deep into this forum and build your own picture, just understand it'll be based mostly on data that's not current. -- edit to add my own data point, I ordered my F350 Platinum in Oct '22, took delivery in Jan '24. -

Yeah, don't panic too much -- my Platinum sticker was not a 100% complete list, it just seems to be a highlight list of things. And the order page was wildly inaccurate compared to the sticker. But the truck was exactly what I ordered so in hindsight their system is not as accurate as whatever the factory uses to build the truck. -
As my son predicted, "old guys materialize out of thin air to ask about my truck", particularly the color. I'm definitely a fan of the Smart Cap.

Agreed -- I was getting them about every 25 miles. It was almost comical, because they started at around 500 miles estimated but I had 200 miles left in the fuel tank and was going to fill at the next truck stop, so this went on for quite a ways. Now that I know the truck gets itchy when it doesn't get its fix I'll just stop at the next truck stop rather than drag it out when I get the initial message.

The regen is automatic, and so far I haven't needed to figure out how to try and force one. It just happens; if you stop at a red light while its happening you'll definitely know if your nose works at all. I'll stop, get a wiff of something dark and acrid, and go to this screen you pasted and I can watch the exhaust filter % drop by 5's until it's at 0. As for the DEF, I doubt you'll make it to 7500 before needing a refill, or at least getting a warning. You'll definitely know when it's time to refill -- you get a pop-up and idiot light when you have 500 estimated miles remaining. I was at 2380 miles when I needed my first DEF refill (and I had around 25% or less remaining, the truck was giving me warnings every 20 miles or so). It cost me $24 for 6 gallons at a truck stop for that first fill up. I tow over a mountain pass though and my understanding is DEF usage depends on how strenuously the engine is working.

24 Super Duty HUD No Navigation
Mylriahd replied to Fl utilities's topic in F-Series SuperDuty Forum
I of course cannot say if it will void warranty or not, the dealer (and yourself) have the capability of restoring the modules back to "as built". It's pretty poor engineering to have a configuration setting that could damage the system, and this change is simply a configuration setting. The main argument I can see for voiding warranty is if you use forscan incorrectly and fry a module; you'll definitely be on your own for that. That said, there are a million videos on how to use forescan to get comfortable doing it correctly, and this change was a gamechanger. Having the turn-by-turn on the HUD while towing lets me keep my eyes on the road & mirrors more often. I can't imagine why Ford disabled it by default -- but they did NOT remove it, they just flipped a switch. -

I can confirm, forscan works! I opened up Forscan, found that address on the APIM module. The second digit in my configuration was 5. I changed it to 6 and wrote the config. Turn off ignition, start the truck and entered an address into Google Maps. It immediately showed nav on the HUD. Thanks @FordVictim2023, great find! -

That button "View my window sticker" is always broke I think. If you want to see your sticker go here and paste your VIN at the end of the URL: https://www.windowsticker.forddirect.com/windowsticker.pdf?vin= -

I need to find my dongle and give that a shot. So weird that the HUD setting would be dependent on engine type.
