I tried doing a Google Earth on STAP and it wasn't very clear. We had a guy a few years ago that that had an aerial photo of the plant. The aerial view of the two plants are completely different. Our plant is all enclosed, it looks like vehicles would have to be conveyed from building to building at OAC. Anyway thanks for the info folks..

It's not just gas prices. sales have been declining for the last few years. Bofore gas started to skyrocket? Why can't they sell anything? Is Fords reputation so F@#KED UP that customers won't even go into a Ford dealership? It not about boring designs either Ford has vehicles that compete in every segment yet ALL are in the shitter, WHY? There has to be a reason and gas prices aren't it.

We got sent home Thursday night after 4 hrs into the shift because of defective radiator modules. Apparently they won't activate the fan which could cause the motor to over heat. I know other plants use the same motor are y'all running? Has anyone heard/KNOW anything about this?

I not sure why you attacked butthead because he is correct! Working at STAP is proof that this company has ignored there products for far too long or at least their car line. Their debt rating is junk and now to save cash on hand they are paying higher yields on their debt. Registering a name isn't building a car. They are shedding almost 500,000 units a year with the plants that are going down and I've yet to hear anything that will replace that lost capacity. We're losing or have lost the TC, Thunderbird, LS, Ranger, Taurus, 1/2 the GM/VC orders, I know I've missed some? So explain to me how Butthead was wrong? You would think Kai/Hyundai were part of the Ford family they got the Vic chasing one of their cars, they got them throwing a windstar of a cliff and at the end of one their commercials the say RETHINK (I can't remember) How much stock does the FORD FAMILY own in Kai/Hyundia I think it's a lot.

Were you hired in ahead of lower seniority ppl? let say Windsor and STAP lay off at the same day and guys from Windsor have higher seniority then STAP guys THEN do they HAVE rehire the based on seniority? And are they contractually obligated to rehire base on time served? I've heard their not? is that true?

We wouldn't be allowed in untill all your ppl are recalled and the we'd come in as new hires but with our years service with regards to pension credits. I'm not sure how it works in Canada? Not much discussion on that topic on here. Do they have to rehire/transferr based on senority?

Ford has neglected this our car line and our plant for a very long time. Superficial updates, neglecting customer DEMANDS TO SHIELD THE GAS TANK and then they put an interior in that looks so cheap it rivals KIA. This in a set of vehicles that were the flagship of the company. There isn't anything we can do about that as line worker but we need to change the culture inside the plant. Ford doesn't owe us anything. We work for them not the other way around. Show up every day and do your job. Don't shut them down by not showing up. We aren't closed yet and I'm optimistic that we won't. If you look at what was announced it would appear that Ford is getting out of the body on frame car line up? Doesn't make a lot of sense since everyone else is getting into it and if the powers that be can't make a business case for a plant that sites on a corn field you can't make a business case for any plant unless of course it's the people. Our plant really isn't that old. We could get a version of the 427 or TC, a completely new vehicle, the Marauder could come back and we are still getting an updated CV and GM. Anything could happen but nothing will, if we do what we've all ways done. The reason for the foreman are running 1 1/2 lines in trim is because of the new presses for the flocks. 1/2 line 4 is empty. Line 5 was/is? becoming a repair line? I've heard about the guys pulling out of retirement because of the announcement and if I had my papers in I would have pulled them too. With the job elimination Ford must offer packages in line with those reductions. In 07 master # close to about 10000 will be eligible to retire with 30 years of service. The junior people shouldn't start looking for other jobs, you'll lose your recall rights and a lot of the senior people will go once we know what is going on. Since anything could happen send your wife to school just in case, pay off your CC and then cut it up use the 20% clause in your mortgage and pay off as much as you can with the time we may have left.
