  1. Went by the plant today and all the signs have been removed from the building.
  2. Looking at buying either an Edge or a Taurus X and don't get the towing capacity, in one line it reads 907kg (2,000lbs) and the next line reads 1,588kg (3,501lbs)? what does it mean? will it pull a 3500 lb trailer from ontario to florida? That's for the Edge, I haven't found info for the X. Thanks
  3. Anyone know if a person can get in trouble from the company for posting photo's of the inside of the plant?
  4. We are in the middle of a federal election. Unemployment in this area is around 9%. The economy is issue #1. Why isn’t anyone talking about the jobs at STAP. http://www.joeprestonmp.ca/EN/3634/104942 “No one can say we didn’t try our best to save those jobs,” Preston said after the meeting. “We all gave it our best shot, from all levels of government and from every viewpoint we could think of. While there were some positive aspects to what Ford told us they are willing to do once they close the plant, I am still greatly saddened by what appears to be their final decision.” Well what are they? We are very close to the closer date and don’t even have details on decommissioning. Until the place closes and the doors are locked we can still put pressure on anyone that will listen to extend the plant. Ford has been given more time too meet their government fuel requirement so why didn’t the plant?Could it be because if the plant stayed open just 4 more months 170 people would be retirement eligible, another year and 400 more. Ford used the financial crisis to simple walking away with our pensions. This Corporation made billion off this building BEFORE they made 6 billion last year. “ Ford officials said they would not simply abandon the St. Thomas plant and are willing to assist in the marketing of the site to potential buyers. “ It’s time for Mr. Preston and others to do more for the people STILL WORKING!!!

Could someone from OAC file us STAPers in on how many people you still have on lay-off and whether they still have recall rights? Also any info on the NEW car you were promised in the last set of talks and any word you may have on adding a third shift? Thanks in advance
  8. STAP is a corn field. You know that right? There is nothing around it for miles. You could build a city around it if you WANTED to. I started in 1983, we built the CV/GM both 2 door and 4 door the Country Squire station wagon and the UNIBODY Escort. I think that's pretty flexible? Our union panicked in light of everything going on at the time. Nothing should have been signed until the contract we had expired in 2011. NOTHING SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSED.
  9. STOP all the personal attacks. The guy starts a thread that I was interested in and you rant about F-ALL STFU. Contribute or leave!
  10. Rail against the union all you want but creat another thread to do it NOT THIS ONE
  11. I have not read any of the post in this thread but I DO AGREE.kick out all the none employee crap and anything related to politices....done!!!!!
  12. If this was a Ford/GM would this happen? NHTSA confirmed receiving complaints, which are a matter of public record, but would not comment further. A Toyota spokesman said no formal investigation is under way, but added that Internet traffic and other complaints had made the company aware of the concerns. What happens next is uncertain. The government could launch a formal investigation and, if it were to find evidence of a safety defect, could work with the automaker to find a fix, which might ultimately lead to a recall. Toyota could also take action on its own. For now, though, owners have expressed frustration that their complaints are being ignored by Toyota dealers. Not likely!
  13. Original artical : http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-toyo...7792,full.story * The automaker knew of a dangerous steering defect in vehicles including the 4Runner sport utility vehicle for years before issuing a recall in Japan in 2004. But it told regulators no recall was necessary in the U.S., despite having received dozens of complaints from drivers. Toyota said a subsequent investigation led it to order a U.S. recall in 2005. * Toyota has paid cash settlements to people who say their vehicles have raced out of control, sometimes causing serious accidents, according to consumers and their attorneys. Other motorists who complained of acceleration problems with their vehicles have received buybacks under lemon laws. * Although the sudden acceleration issue erupted publicly only in recent months, it has been festering for nearly a decade. A computerized search of NHTSA records by The Times has found Toyota issued eight previous recalls related to unintended acceleration since 2000, more than any other automaker. * A former Toyota lawyer who handled safety litigation has sued the automaker, accusing it of engaging in a "calculated conspiracy to prevent the disclosure of damaging evidence" as part of a scheme to "prevent evidence of its vehicles' structural shortcomings from becoming known" to plaintiffs lawyers, courts, NHTSA and the public. Last line in the article: "This is clearly information that Toyota does not want the public to see," Tracy said. "For years, they were the gold standard, but right now they have more problems than they know what to do with." Please feel free to copy and paste this and E-Mail it to all your Toyota loving friends, we all have assholes in our lives!!!

Ford started to restructor in 2002 after the Firestone Tire cluster F%$. It will report a year over year profit THIS year, even better resultes NEXT and would have had 1 F%^$ of a time in Sept 2011 saying they have no money for a new product or investment in the car. What we should have gotten in this deal was the 200 Mill that was for a refresh in 06 but went to the TC instead. The car would have lasted ? more years. Jast admit to yourself that your union threw you under a bus pure and simple.

I will and it's at the union. If you've read any of my earlier posts this car launched in our plant in april 1983. They threw everyone hire to build that car under a bus. We knew back in 2005 that the CV, GM, & TC WERE DONE IN 2011. I'm a Ford shareholder i get there prispectise (F^&^%* the spelling). They know 5 year ago, never admitted to it, then allowed the company to walk away on ever person hire to build the CV & GM unless you meet there defined tirmes. Even more shamefull is to lay the blame on on our local reps. It is what it is, No Auto pact, not enough market share, to many plants not working to their full capabilities and a COMPANY willing to kill off a good car.it was FORD not the CAW I suguest that my fellow 1520 members give thanks to the CAW for a severance package that many many people from other jobs whom have been placed on the employment and welfare lines due to no severance of any kind at all from company greed backed by a goverment that is part of the problem and not willing to do the right thing by looking out for it's people. The goverment has carried out the plan of the WTO in having 2 classes of working stiffs the min wage earner and the dirty rotten rich white collar. Proud to be UNION I'm grateful to Ford for what i have. I have earned (NOONE has given me it not Ford NOT the CAW ) a good life. It's shameful that the day after we sign this the company anounses 1bn and my union rushed me to vote on this deal. it shameful when you can STOP LOOK @ THE #"S and see how you really got f@&^*& . 1 year longer till 2012 and almost 500 ppl got 28.1 years of service. we all fall 3 to 9 month short and get NOTHING. Be Proud . I'm the son of a union rep , I'm NOT. Now I got to go to work. Have a good day

You wheren't give time to make an informed decision because if you had time figure it all the ramifications you would have told them to got fuck themself. NOONE hired since Ford moved the C.V. to STAP and started production in April 1983 will be eligable to retire unless you they are 50 years old. Back then Ford could discriminatate against almost anyone and age discrimination wasn't consided a crime but it is today. I'm not sure that the launguage in the contract can't be challenged. Some might need a lawyer?

AGREED!!!!! "No product, No Job, No Balls" YOU FUCK'N IDIOTS!!!
  19. True.... But the timing hurts a lot working their. Especially if you don't fall into one of the "DEFINED" groups. If your not 50 or 28.1 regardless how many years you have like say 28.0 and 49.11. Ford brought the CV,GM to STAP in the summer 1983. I got hired in the first batch of EE's since 1980 when they built Lynx their. Ford didn't hire anyone in almost 4 years. I got hired December 1983. Over the next few years Ford hired quite a few PPL at STAP...... If we got an extention for 1 year it would have put almost 400 more PPL eligable to retire with 28.1. Some PPL may feel they have the right to bitch.
