I see that this forum is almost exclusively regarding the newer 350GT Shelby but there's still a lot of interest in the original series. Here's a place to discuss them. I road race mine here in FL and GA. It competes favorably with both the vintage cars as well as the newer small block V8 production cars in SCCA.

Shelby GT350 "XR": Unveiling 12 January 2015 @ 9:10am, est. There's hot and than there is ever hotter. While the 2016 Shelby GT350 can be described at hot, Ford will unveil an even hotter version of the GT350 at the NAIAS or Detroit Auto Show this coming 12 January. The GT350 "XR" (it will called something slightly different) will be a street legal animal that can be somewhat compared to the previous generation Cobra R, except even more radical. The Shelby GT350 R itself will be revealed at a later date and will not be street legal. Think Boss 302 "R" and "S" models. Any guesses on what the new Shelby GT350 "XR" will actually be called?

2016 Shelby GT350 Engine Confirmed: 5.2L Naturally Aspirated FORD SHELBY GT350 FORUM - The next-generation Ford Shelby GT350 will be powered by a 5.2L Coyote engine variant, which will be naturally aspirated. A naturally aspirated engine is what was expected for the 2016 GT350 since its duty will be to perform road course track service. Although many of the specific engine details are not yet available, it will also feature variable camshaft timing for all cams. Speculation and rumors are all over the internet about the "upcoming" 2016 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350.
