xr7g428
I drove the Avenger at the Chrysler press introduction in Scottsdale AZ. The RT version of the Avenger is a great driving car. It is as good as the base four cylinder is bad. Chrysler also provided us with a v6 fusion, a Toyota Camry, and a Honda Accord. The Camry and the Accord were both 4 cylinders. Compared to the rest of the pack the V6 Fusion was the most fun to drive. It just felt like a go cart that went where it was pointed. The Toyota was competent in everything it did, but no more so than it had to be. The Honda felt like a copy of the Toyota, just a little more rubbery. The Fusion interior is competitive, except for a few glaring details. I believe the dome light must be a left over from an '85 Escort. And there were other detail items that really stood out as being less than expected. If you were not looking at the cars back to back, the oddness might not be so noticeable. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and a lot of people beheld the Avenger at least a couple of times. Moistly they thought it was a Charger in 7/8ths scale... grbeck
Really? The fit and finish in those cars leaves a lot to be desired. I agree...having sat in both the Sebring and Avenger at the Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia auto shows, I can't say the fit-and-finish of the interior was especially impressive. It was definitely a notch below the Fusion and the Saturn Aura. The relatively high beltline was also annoying...it really made the interior seem small. The Charger and 300 are large enough that the high beltline isn't so noticeable, but in these smaller cars it makes a much larger difference. SVT_MAN
The Avenger has nothing on the Fusion in terms of design. The Avenger, in typical Chryler fashion, is a shrunken version of some other car. The styling just does not work as well on a car that small as it does on the Charger. The high beltline looks, in a word, bizarre. It doesn't fit well on that size car. It's sort of like saying that when you think of a mobster you see a 150 lbs 5' 9" man. That just isn't what comes to mind. You picture a 190 lbs burly man who is ready to make you fuhggetaboutit. Likewise, the Avenger's styling doesn't work on this size car. It has its good points, but overall, its a disappointing redesign.

Plus the Avenger commercial with the revving engines playing "Smoke on the Water" is absolutely retarded.
focalxplosion
We looked at the avenger but I just can't get over the craptastic interior. Now between the Saturn Aura and Fusion I have a hard time deciding. Good thing the wife is looking at hybrid Escapes!
