ESP Priceing

If you're only driving 15K/yr then you're only getting a 5 yr/75K mile warranty. The powertrain is already covered for 5 yrs/60K miles so you're only getting 1 yr/15K miles of powertrain coverage with the ESP. And 2 yrs/39K miles on the bumper to bumper portion beyond the factory 3/36K. Do you really think it's likely that you'll have a problem in that short timeframe that cost more than $1600 to fix? Not likely. If you're planning to pay cash for the ESP just put the money in the bank and self-insure. You'll save money in the long run.

The only valid reason to get an ESP (IMO) is if you can't afford to pay up to $2K for a repair out of pocket and would rather finance the ESP and make small monthly payments instead. Otherwise, if you can afford to pay $1600 out of pocket for an ESP you can afford to pay for a large repair every once in a while.
