Since no one has responded, I will add that yesterday I downloaded the current sales brochure for the Grand Marquis, and it shows 17" wheels (225-60-17 tires), and a 2.73 RAR. Thus, it appears that they did not adjust the axle ratio to compensate for the increased wheel/tire size. If so, the new ones will be slower off the line, but will cruise at a slightly lower RPM

How to they correct for the speedometer? They don't actually have a gear in the transmission any more, do they. Someone told me thay do not run a cable from the transmission to the dash.

 

Sensor in the differential. And S/W adjustment in the computer. Been that way for quite a while now with Fords.
