694doorbird
Driver's door lock sometimes does not unlock. Anyone else have this problem? This may help, may not, but I just went through the same thing with our '01 Sable. Right rear door would work part time. I thought it was going to be an actuator change, but turned out to be a simple fix. I just cleaned the linkage inside the door, and sprayed it with silicon. Been working for 2 weeks now. Furious1Auto
Driver's door lock sometimes does not unlock. Anyone else have this problem? I did on my Windstar, until it failed 100%! there is an electric actuator in the door panel. I payed $45.00 and installed it myself, and it never failed again! jpark
Driver's door lock sometimes does not unlock. Anyone else have this problem? Do you mean that it doesn't unlock electrically when you use the lock controls or the key fob, or when you shift into PARK or shut off the engine? If it's the lock controls or key fob, then you probably have a loose connector to the lock motor, or a loose connector to the door. The motor itself may be defective, although that's not really likely. If you mean when you shut off the engine, or shift into PARK, Ford's automatic unlocking functions are a little different (and, IMHO, better) than those of other manufacturers. First, you can find the settings for AUTO UNLOCK in the message center (using the INFO, SETUP, and RESET buttons). If it's off, the doors will not automatically unlock. If it's on, all other doors will unlock only when the driver's door is opened, after you shift into PARK and shut off the engine. I like this feature, since it prevents rear-seat passengers from opening the door before the driver checks to see if there's no oncoming traffic, for example. HTH!
