OAC_Sparky
Divide et impera Divide and conquer? Nawwwww .... if it's true, we'll all be in it together. See, when it comes to contract time we'll likely ending up giving up something to get their jobs back. Maybe getting back something we lost, or something we have now and won't have later. Yep, we'll stick together. When people pull shit like this, we all suffer.

Why does it matter? Different seniority list. They offer buyouts depending on the group they want to reduce.
OAC_Sparky
The forseeable future looks grim. September auto sales will be disappointing. Again. You are really, really disconnected from reality, Hope you have your Armegeddon plan ready, the sky is falling!! http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/41299-ford-september-sales-up-46-percent/page__view__findpost__p__646558
silverboy31
There aren't many takers for buyouts. The offers are not even firm. They are just testing the waters. I would not go on a pension in this economic environment. It would either get destroyed in a stock market crash, or inflated away from the government printing up fiat currency. There could be a food shortage in the near future which would drive the price of food through the roof. If the world loses faith in the dollar, which is only valued on faith, we will have hyperinflation. All paper will be worthless. The forseeable future looks grim. September auto sales will be disappointing. Again. [/quote Once again trim you prove your worth .....ford sales rise 40% in September check automotive news out once in awhile . Last September was a very bad month because it was the first month after the "Cash For Clunkers" deal expired. Look at the numbers. They sold around 18,000 OAC vehicles in the U.S. Add 15% for Canadian and exports. That's 20000-21000. We build about 6000 a week on 10 hours. We build about 5000 a week on 8 hours. In 23 working days of 8 hours, that is 23000 cars. That is 2000 to 3000 too many. September is one of the biggest selling months. How many will we need for November, January, February, March? With all of the excitement over Ford's new line-up, sales would normally be through the roof. People don't have the money. Mostly they are buying out of necessity to replace older vehicles. Read up on automotive news once in a while and you would know what is going on. Don't just read the headlines and the hype. Wait for GM and Toyota's numbers. Overall, it will be disappointing. Never mind the percentages. Look at the numbers. Look at projected sales for the year; 11 million something. Nothing to sing about. Trimdingman
October sales figures are out. There is a lot of hoopla about how well we are doing. Look at the numbers for OAC. Edge=10185; Flex=2036; MKX=1675; MKT=506. Total OAC U.S. sales=14402. Add 15% for Canada and export=17562. Hours of production in October=400 (minus some downtime). Even at 55 JPH, that comes to 22000 cars built. At 60 JPH, we would need to work 293 hours to build 17,562 cars, or just over 18-eight hour days on two shifts. Orders will tail off during the winter months. Something isn't right with the production schedule. schumi1919
In the Toronto Sun today they are offering the Edge for 60 months at 0 % interest. If there is a high demand WHY? Put them at 0% interest!! Very Strange????? Edited November 5, 2010 by schumi1919
Trimdingman
Whats in the order bank??? we used to always know what was in the order bank but you never hear about it anymore. Apparently, there are a lot of orders, but not a lot of deliveries to customers, which is what the U.S. sales numbers are based on. Maybe they are stocking up for some down time for re-tooling?? Trimdingman
Large order to China, they are going to reverse engineer our cars and build them there like the Koreans did with the Windstar. How large is the order, and over what time frame? Is it big enough to justify our current production? It would have to be over 5000 cars a month. Trimdingman
Ford sold just over 14,000 OAC produced vehicles in the U.S. in October. We built 20 days at over 1000 cars a day average. Under normal circumstances, you would add say, 15% for Canada and export. That would total about 16000 sales. In November, we will work 22 days, and we will in all likliehood sell less than October, domestically. If the China order was totally completed by the end of November, we have the capacity. We are running Chinese units a few an hour, on alternate days, so it looks like if the order is for 10,000, it will be spread out over several months. Even at 2000 a month, it would still not add up to what we are building. Edited November 13, 2010 by Trimdingman
