Fuel cutoff switch

My dad's ranger suddenly wouldn't start today. After looking it up, he tried the fuel shut-off switch, and bingo it started up.

The manual says just that it might be activated after a "substantial jolt" -- how substantial of a jolt are we talking?

a friend's ranger had a random issue like that too. In the left turn lane his truck just quit and it was the fuel shut off switch. I don't remember if the dealer replaced something or not when he brought it in. I think the 'substantial jolt' may mean something like crashing through a brick wall. lol or an accident.

At least it's a cheap replacement ($21 for the part) should it have a problem again.

He said he found a post from some offroader who said he just bypassed the switch :)
