If there is no public option then the insurance companies still win at the expense of the American people. If we can at the very least get the base system in place we can tweek it later for improvement. I keep hearing the republicans talking about total rewrites just because they don't like the main components of this bill. Honestly the auto industry is forced to compete like any other industry, and they have to do it with unfair trade restrictions, currency valuation disadvantages, and against foreign entities. If Ford motor company can reinvent their selves, and become lean and efficient then so can the medical field with all of their talent. Doctors need to be freed up to deal with peoples illnesses, not forced to conform to insurers restriction to even get compensated for their work, or having their treatment recommendations dictated to them VIA the insurance companies. There also needs to be measures taken to alleviate the cost of medical schooling and malpractice insurance rates. This will open a huge demand for qualified personnel, and we don't need to saddle new doctors with hundreds of thousands in debt right out of school just to be allowed to practice medicine. It's complex but in a nutshell she had her combined properties that house her businesses paid off and they were valued well over 1.5M. She then needed to renovate one of the buildings on her property when the economy was still going strong. The loan was for less then 1/8 the value of the properties that she owned. The business that she renovated is actually a multi-purpose banquet hall. The facility housed a catering service owned by my grandmother, and the building was leased by a non-profit organization twice a week for the past 30 years. The economy tanked, and not only did the volume of functions that they serviced, but so did the volunteer organization. The money fron the lease they held, use to pay the renovation loan, however since the non-profit organization witnessed a loss of contributions, they could no longer pay their rent. My grandmother fell behind on the payments slightly, but sold off some assets to generate the money to make it good. The property she sold was worth $147,000 and as the money was deposited into her account it was seized by the bank in it's entirety. There was a $6,000 rearage, and the bank IMO stole the difference of $141,000 up front that wasn't even due yet. What made it legal was there was a provision within the renovation loan that allowed them to accelerate the loan in the event of loan payment default. 1 late payment, and they could seize any assets that my grand mother had coming ie; bank accounts. So you have a woman working her entire life to pay off her property, and she did pay it off. Some loan institution wants to give her a small loan, and in the agreement they bury small provisions, that make her a victim. The economy side is one thing, but what the bank is doing is criminal. The question is how is it justified to assume $147,000 from a customers account when only $6,000 is due. It's like the terms withing Universal Default, I would never accept a new credit card with a universal default agreement. It is like the next generation of bankers have lost their minds. In the past terms were more favorable, and lending practices were done on a handshake. Now they want your blood up front, and to crucify you for things beyond your control! Why is the insurance that congress wants her citizens to have different than the insurance the congress has????
