Reigner92
All of you that read/follow my posts know that I am for iconic cars. However, i am no longer thinking Ford itself needs an iconic car, but Lincoln. If we gave a Lincoln car, American muscle, all the latest in technology, power, amazing mileage, great suspension, etc. I am thinking the Continental name, The Mondeo diesel engine(tuned for a little more power and torque), and the Fusion hybrid train. If you combined the Euro diesel and the American hybrid train, i am estimating you could get in the low to high 60's for miles per gallon. However, given the fact that it would be a luxury muscle car, I think you should be able to turn on and off the hybrid train so you can have some fun with the power of the diesel engine. Here's the styling i was thinking, muscle, new yet retro. Front based on Challenger and mkx Side based on Mustang Rear unaltered MKr concept Comments? Suggestions? 2b2
cool, Reigner I like the parts-bin approach for making it doable & like the drivetrain idea = so different = no comparisons with the Mustang & think you did an excellent job modding the side photo but in reality the Lincoln would need all new sheetmetal hope you don't mind if I offer an old OLD styling suggestion (I think it's held up pretty well considering its age - predates SplitWing grilles) sorry a larger version isn't available
Reigner92
It is different sheet metal it is the iacocca mustang. Which is fairly different from the 2010 mustang, plus i took the hockey stick out. I will try and come up with a slightly new rendering. Front and side. Another possible front - Edited October 14, 2009 by Reigner92
rmc523
Ok, here's my honest thoughts: Side: looks too 1) Mustang-like in general, and 2) Iacocca Mustang-like, even if you say it uses different sheetmetal Front: I'm not a big fan of the second one you did - it makes me think of 80s-90s Cadillacs, or at least the grille does. The first front, while it's a good idea, I just think it looks a bit too much like the Challenger it's based on. Also, I feel doing something like that would be a bit too retro for Lincoln and/or a luxury brand. I completely understand the direction you were going for, like the Continentals (which I love by the way), though. I just think that luxury brands represent the cutting edge of technology and stuff like that, so going too retro might move a tad too far away from that.......inspired by the old vehicles, absolutely, but to that degree of retro, I don't know. Rear: it's the MKR, which I absolutely loved, so I've got nothing to really say there. Again, I want to emphasize that these are my opinions - you and others may feel completely differently about the pictures, so....
Reigner92
the second front view is based on the continentals of the 70s 60s and 80s. From the first one you can see where i got the inspiration for the lights. http://www.seriouswheels.com/1970-1979/197...Continental.htm http://imcdb.org/images/225/507.jpg http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-1970-197...white-fa-sy.jpg It looks like a lincoln.
