FORD CONTINUES TO LEAD VEHICLE SALES IN CANADA; MAY SALES UP 19%May Highlights:

 

•Overall vehicle sales increased 19%

•Overall truck sales up 29%

•Ford Fusion sales rose 14%

•Ford Mustang sales increased 9%

•Ford Taurus sales jump 242%

•Ford Escape sales rose 10%

•Ford Edge sales were up 65%

•Ford Flex sales increased 5%

•Ford F-Series sales were up 42%

•Ford E-Series sales jump 109%

•Lincoln MKZ sales rose 2%

•Lincoln MKX sales were up 74%

•Lincoln Navigator sales jump 107%

•Overall Lincoln sales increased 41%

"Among those on the positive side was Chrysler, whose sales surged 53 per cent from year-earlier levels.Chrysler’s market share jumped to 13.5 per cent from 9 per cent a year earlier.

 

Ford posted a 19-per-cent increase, which kept it in first place ahead of General Motors of Canada Ltd. Ford’s market share jumped three points to 17 per cent.

 

Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. roared into the top six in Canadian sales for the first time since the 1980s – surpassing Honda Canada Inc. – with 12,620 deliveries, which represents the best month it has ever had in Canada.

 

On the negative side of the ledger, Honda had the worst month among the top seven auto makers with a 26-per-cent plunge.

 

Market share for the seven Japan-based auto makers slid to 33 per cent from 38 per cent in May, 2009."
