Sportscraft
Does any one know if Ford dealers will perform gear changes. Basically I want to swap my 4.30 gears in my 2011 F450 down to the 3.73's that the F350's have. I would like it done by Ford because I'm assuming that would keep my warranty in tact? I emailed a dealer, but they didn't respond. The 4.30 are a lower then I expected, and wouldn't mind a little increase in fuel economy! Sportscraft
Second question, is the axle width a little wider on the 450's then the 350? I would like to take off the bulky flair and bumper piece, but it appears that the tires will then stick past the wheel well.
Sportscraft
Heard back from Ford. About $3000 parts/labor/freight to regear my truck, an no one can say for sure whether the abs housing will work! Might have to stick with what I got for a while. If your main goal is fuel economy, it'll take a LOOOONG time to recoup that $3k going from 4.30 to 3.73. Somewhere between forever and never. Sportscraft
Yeah that was about 3 times what I expected! Think I might just put towards "upgrading" to a 350 in a few years.
