Slithr
Did Ford always plan for just two years for this car or did some 2007 safety regs force the two year production? Trying to remember. Thanks for the help.
NickF1011
Did Ford always plan for just two years for this car or did some 2007 safety regs force the two year production? Trying to remember. Thanks for the help. The 2007 regulations were known well before to the car's introduction. From everything I've read, production was always only planned for the 2 model years. It may not have been solely because of the regulations. I'm sure if they REALLY wanted to, they could have designed the car to meet the '07 regulations from the get-go. I just don't think they figured it was worth making the changes since they were planning to make it a limited-run vehicle anyway.
Slithr
Thanks. I had it in my mind that there was something in the 2007 regs that was going to make it difficult to come as close as they did to duplicating the original body style. Might have been too much caffine that day.

With Ford mounting the fuel tank inboard as opposed to the outboard design used on the original GT's, I'm betting they had some difficulty limiting cabin intrusion into the seat area.
