Airbus 'trouncing' Boeing at Paris Air Show

Airshow Orders - Airboose 730 v Boeing 142

As expected, the Boeing vs. Airbus rivalry is again front and center at this year's Paris Air Show.

The Associated Press writes Airbus "is trouncing Boeing in the race to be the world's biggest planemaker," buoyed by what the European jetmaker says is the largest-ever order for commercial passenger jets.

Dow Jones Newswires details the numbers for the A320neo, writing Airbus "racked up 667 orders and commitments for the A320neo, a new, more fuel-efficient version of the Airbus A320, a favorite of low-cost airlines operating medium-haul routes. Offering airlines up to 15% fuel economy compared to a present-day A320 due to new engines and wing appendages, it will be delivered to Airbus customers starting in late 2015."

Overall, Airbus has announced deals for 730 aircraft at the air show. The orders would be worth $72 billion at list prices, though customers typically negotiate prices that are substantial lower. Boeing deals announced at the show totaled 142 aircraft worth $22 billion at list prices.

So airbus is getting 98 mil for ea aircraft average and Boeing is getting 155 mil each average.

So do we call airbus the new GM now ? "we lose money on each volt, BUT LOOK HOW MANY WE'RE SELLING!" :hysterical:

How much profit per aircraft is the point anyway. Who is making more profit per aircraft?

LOL

Quality lapses start to creep in when you become to big like GM. What no Airbus company A380 at Paris Airshow, why did it not turn up this year (Hidden from the public eyes in a hangar) ?

Good for Airbus! It will get Boeing to finally re-do the 737 to compete. :)

Yes they have been a bit slow with the 737 Ed they have got a lotta catching up to do the present A320 that is already a much nicer aircraft in so many ways. A320 Neo is 15% more fuel efficient than the present A320 fuel miser at a time when kerosene prices the biggest cost for airlines has gone through the roof.

Dreamliner seem to be taking forever, but when it arrives it will be a huge sales winner for Boeing.

737 sales don't seem to be hurting. They'e built just a few miles from me, and word on the street is they're hiring right and left (hmmm.... wonder if they'd take me back......). All the sales slots for 2011 are filled, and they are overbooked for 2012. LINK Right now, they're popping out more than one a day.

Albaugh says that Boeing's 737 delivery slots are "sold out" in 2011 and production is "over committed" in 2012, based on the current 31.5 aircraft per month output. "We will make a decision some time this summer about increasing that rate," he says.

I see the boss Ryan Air the 737's biggest customer wants to bulk them at a bit of a loss to Boeing has gone off with a bit flea in his ear like a jilted bride he has run off to the Chinese hoping they will build him a fleet of COMAC C919 737 alternatives on the cheap.

O' leary wants to help them with the design the of new C919, he wants 1 seat up front to fly the plane, Co Piliot who works as cabin crew on hostie wages will be on standby, he wants just one toilet & standing room only for 400 in a plane the size of a 737-900 - MMMmmm. Was it the lack of money or loss of Boeings reputation that put them off of doing a deal with Europe's No1 budget Irish airline?
