We are hearing that Lima has many local contractors tearing out the old engine lines. They must be getting ready for the work group pilot program also, cause we hear that other trades like toolmakers and machine repairmen are helping the welders. Are they also driving hi-lo's?? They're local has been contacted but they say they dont need millwrights or other trades from other locals that are layed off!! What is they're reasoning ? Lima sent millwrights and welders to other plants last year when they were layed off but can't reciprocate?? Here comes another pilot program from good ol Lima !! By the way why are they tearing out right now? Right before contract? Was told several months back that the international was trying to talk Lima into putting on 5 MW's. Nothing ever became of it. If they have other trades filling in doing the work my guess is that lima does not need core trades. With these M.O.A., Helping Hands, Work Groups. What ever you want to call it. The tearout is being ran by a complete moron, the people working over there call it a prison camp. He doesn't care what gets done he just wants to be a dictator. The manager wants it to be that way and says that the foreman is just holding his people accountable. He writes people up for the dumbest things and docks people for going to the restroom and wont give them an extra 5 min. to clean up before lunch. You have to put your tools away on your own time and stay on the job at the end day until quiting time. They add more contractors daily! The union says that there is nothing that they can do so get used to it and go by the rules! The contractors are telling the tearout crew that they put bids in to install new machinery and that the company told them that our trades will be running the machining areas and maintaining them. Dictators and prison camps? How about trades from other plants? They say that we dont want outside trades cause they want us to get used to working in groups where everyone does everyone's work. Sounds like your 2 term chairman must be getting a position at the international level!
