LSFan00
Has anyone had a sound shop add materials such as dynamat to quiet the Focus ride at all? It's quiet enough around town but at highway it might be useful.
GapBoyPCS
I've never found any reason to add any. What's the issue? Engine noise? Road noise?
LSFan00
Because road noise is dramatically higher @ 72mph than my old Lincoln LS. Not a whine, just a fact and I'm trying to see if it is a good option or not.

One of the bigger differences is in the window glass and that can't easily be changed. Putting dynamat under the carpets will help but it's fairly expensive and the seats would have to be removed. LSFan00
Road noise @ highway has marginal correlation to the windows (unless you're driving next to an 18 wheeler). I disagree.

Noise is noise and thicker glass will help although I agree the majority of road noise would come from underneath.
LSFan00
Yeah, I think 25% is all they'd have to cover to have a big impact on the floorboards, and if I can do that up front for a few hundred it would be worth it if it makes a noticeable impact (again, cruising @ 72.) mettech
Ziebart sound barrier Has anyone tried this type of product and if so... does it help?
aneekr
Ziebart sound barrier Has anyone tried this type of product and if so... does it help? That product is Ziebart's undercoating as used in corrosion "protection", just applied in greater amounts. I haven't tried it and don't intend to, as it's rather expensive and can actually increase corrosion if not applied carefully (due to water traps, etc.). cdsilver02
I installed Dynamat in my hatch area to get rid of some vibrating issues when closing and running the stock sub and it worked really well. It is not cheap either.
