obsidianspider
I was looking into putting aftermarket wheels on my 2007 Mustang, but I read in the owners manual that there are tire pressure monitoring system sensors inside the wheels from Ford. Where would I be able to get new tire pressure sensor bands for the new wheels and how much would they cost? Thanks!
kevinb120
Typically there are two types of systems, either the valve stem type(like on expedition) that sends a signal to a sensor on the frame(and can tell you what wheel is low), or the ABS computer can be programmed to notice a wheel that is spinning slower then the others(most likely) that has no hardware involved(but can not tell you what tire is low, ala Windstars have this system). The tire/wheel storeshave surely delt with both types before. Edited July 31, 2006 by kevinb120

jay00f4
First generation monitoring systems used bands. The new mustang is using bands, that doesn't mean you can't get bigger bands when changing your wheels or even change them to the valve stem type. Any goor tire shop knows this and will have what you need.
