DaveTaylor
Lately, the radio in my 2013 1.6L SE does not turn off when I open the door. This happens intermitently, maybe one in ten times. I have left it on and it does not turn off after the other lights go off. The car does not have the Ford My Touch option. Has anyone else had this happen, is there a solution out there? It does seem like a software issue, but, who knows.
akirby
Make sure the software is updated and try a master reset.
transitman
If the suggestion akirby posted doesn't work, try pulling the fuse, leaving it disconnected long enough for the system to shut down, insert the fuse and then do a Master Reset. If neither of those work, time for a dealer visit. Unfortunately, if they can't reproduce the issue, they may give you the bum's rush. DaveTaylor
Thanks for the input guys, I will probably disconnect the negative battery lead when the problem becomes more pronounced. I am a bit confused by the term "Master Reset" in the context of the options on my vehicle. I am presuming that disconnecting the battery or pulling the fuse will reset the all the computer driven systems including the radio and sync. As far as determining what version of software I have, I don't have a clue. I have tried to find a reference to updating or checking the software version on the Service Information CD, but, have not seen it yet. I am cool so far, but, can see the day when this may get frustrating

I am cool so far, but, can see the day when this may get frustrating I was thinking in terms of MyFord Touch, which I knew you didn't have. You will find your software version on the SYNC website. I wouldn't disconnect the battery cable, that may reset and affect other electrical systems that are working fine. Try a fuse pull first to see if that reboots your SYNC. The fuse panel is on the firewall under the glove box and is easily accessible by pulling off the two yellow push nuts and removing the soft cover. It's fuse 67, second row from the left, third fuse down. Also, there's a red plastic fuse puller clipped to the underside of the cover of the power distribution box in the engine compartment. DaveTaylor
Thanks Transitman, good advice on the battery lead. I will go out and pull that fuse when it stops raining around here, mid-week according to the weatherman.
DaveTaylor
Problem solved! Akirby was right in his first response. When I took the car in for the latest recall, I mentioned the radio not turning off. Just picked the car up and it turns out this issue was covered by TSB 121108 - reprogram the FCDIM. The only thing visible to me after this software update is that there is now an instantaneous readout of fuel consumption available on instrument panel display.
