2014/2015 Fusion Titanium Questions - Navigation Day/Night Colours, Adaptive cruise, park assist etc.

Hi guys,

Picked up a last on the lot 2014 Fusion Titanium AWD with almost every addon (just missing the heated steering wheel and the rear inflatable belts....

A few things have me totally flustered and am unable to find anything in the forums on this -

1) Ford Sync + Navigation = Tried every setting possible, but I just cannot get the navigation map turn to night colours (black) as opposed to day colours (blue/green etc.)

I have tried all the display settings from Auto to Night and have also reduced the brightness offset etc.

I have sat in a pitch dark area with the headlamps on and still no go. Nav refuses to go into night colours.

2) Adaptive cruise control: When the car in front brakes and the ACC kicks in thereby braking - do the brake lights glow at the back?

3) The passenger side mirror does not tilt down on putting the car in reverse (To see the curb) Why oh why have they left this basic feature out?!

4) Park assist - So you need two cars for this to work! or atleast one - and it will only park behind it..... ie. if I find a row of cars and then an empty spot in front of all of them, I have to manually park - the system won't detect a spot! Well, I know I can park myself, but the park assist is fantastic because I don't have to worry about curbing the wheels - and then again, I am forced to manually adjust the passenger side mirror to look at the curb - see point above.

Any insights on these? Thanks!

On a side note: What a beauty of a car. Loving it!! Was considering a BMW 3 series without all the extra tech but went with this loaded vehicle. Just need those European Modeo spec LED headlamps.

1) I've noticed the same issue

2) Yes the brake lights will illuminate. Not sure if you've used ACC extensively yet or not, but the system will absolutely SLAM on the brakes if it needs to...it'd be quite dangerous if the brake lights didn't come on :)

3) I hate this as well. My 05 Acura TL did this and I loved it. I thought the solution would be simple, so I programmed one of the three driver's memory settings to have both the mirrors tilt down...only to find the car has to be in park in order to switch between memory presets. Dumb design.

4) Can't speak much on the system as I don't have it, but I'd imagine the radar sensors are programmed to pickup on metal cars only...might be difficult for the car to know what a parking space is and what isn't if there aren't any other cars parked.

Glad you're enjoying it! I debated going with a CLA or A3, but couldn't pass up the value of the Fusion Titanium. So many more features.

Thanks! That pretty much answers all my queries.... Fantastic!

I guess we have to live with the NAV with day colours.

I tried option number 3 you mentioned - and figured the same thing! :) I am dreading the day I curb the 19" H spokes.

I traded in my 2010 Fusion SEL and had curbed the wheels a couple of times over the time I owned it.

I've already curbed two...it was a big bummer but it is what it is.

If you go into the navigation option settings, you set it to "auto" and it will turn darker when the ambient light turn darker, also when going through tunnels or when traveling on the dark side of the moon.

My screen will dim, but it won't go into true night mode like on other cars where the map turns black.

Yep, same here.... spent hours searching online for answers, before my first post...

What confused me is this video:

from which you can clearly see the night colours. The video seems to be a Ford Escape.... I thought the sync system would be identical.... guess not!
