davert
I'm trying to replace the blower motor on a 1990 Ford Econoline van - how do I get to it? Any hints would be appreciated. Edited August 30, 2006 by davert

matthewq4b
remove the battery, drain the cooling sytem, remove hoses and leads for the fan motor. from the engine compartment remove the 3 bolts holding the plenum on to the dash, remove the heater unit to one side to gain access to the heater control cable, remove the whole unit, when it is on the bench Remove the 16 screws holding the 2 halfs together and separate. lift the heater core out of the casing and then remove the 2 screws holding the fan in to the front half of the casing, remove the fan In a vehical that old might as well replace the heater while you got it out. Instalation is the reverse of removal. Note: make sure that the heater controls are set to off and the air inlet is in the closed postion (towards rear of van). Make sure that the openings in the casing line up with the defroster and fresh air ducts befor buttoning every thing up. It is about an hour or so job.
