range
Building cars without dealer orders....then storing them in parking lots. Dumping 33 to 50% of 300/Magnum/Charger production into fleets. Trying to make the business look better than it really is. Isn't there something wrong with this picture? Chrysler Dealers Response "Your coverage of the current DCX situation is accurate. One vital fact that is not being reported about the inventory situation is that upper management (Joe Eberhardt in particular) has been building cars without dealer orders for close to two years in order to keep the factories open and the truth of their financial situation hidden. Production of unassigned vehicles (sales bank) has not been done since pre-Iacocca. ....
bec5150
Actually, I read that Chrysler might have made their financials look worse than it really is to assist in some union negotiations that might be upcoming. We'll see.
630land
I remember seeing yards of unsold Monacos, Furys, and Newports in the late 70's. Wonder where they all went, eventaully? I am thinking most were trashed in the Blues Bros movie. They can do "BB 2010", and trash Durangoes and Commanders!
bec5150
That may be true. There was no doom and gloom reported at Chrysler, until the UAW said they had reviewed the books and Chrysler did not need the health care concessions they had granted to GM and Ford. On the other hand, the two lots in Toledo that had been leased to store the excess Jeep production from the North plant has now expanded to a third lot, not to mention the ones in Detroit storing the Grand and Commander. It was either this year or last year, but it was when GM did their negotiation about health care as well as some Delphi strike fears....the Morraine plant (Trailblazer and sister SUV's) had GM manufactured cars, both what they made and from other plants, stacked up in all corners of the Dayton area. Are the vehicles that are sitting around leftover 2006's or 2007s? I wonder.
630land
06's, dealers are refusing to order 07's till they sell off the old ones. How's that for good business sense?? I bet heads will roll, if they are stuck with too many left overs in November/December.
