ibewlineman13
I ordered an F450 lariat ultimate 3 months ago with a bed on it. Dealer said ford would de-tune the truck a 100hp if I ordered it as a cab and chassis, but couldn’t tell me why. Anyone know why they do this exactly? Flying68
F-450 Chassis Cab has a higher GVWR than the F-450 pickup which is 14,000 lb. GVWR's above 14k lb require dyno certification by the EPA. 14k and under you can chassis certify emissions. Dyno certification requirements will almost always result in a loss of Hp and Torque because of the tuning and changes required to pass EPA requirements.
