Sgovind
Hi all, I am new to the forum. I have a 2008 Ford Escape V6 4WD. I'm hearing / feeling a rumble noise at 50 to 60 km/hr. Its still there past 60. But not resonating or very disturbing. Driving on streets causes a headache as 50-60 is the speed driven most. Also, the sound gets loud while turning left. Checked all 4 wheel bearings. Does seem fine except for slight brake rubbing on rear. What could be the problem? Also, I tried swapping the wheels with my winter wheels.. sound is still present. Accelerating or decelerating does not make a difference. Changed diff fluid too without luck. The car always had a drivetrain kinda noise like gears meshing from the rear, but not at all disturbing. I thought that would be natural to 4wd.
akirby
Could still be a wheel bearing or a CV joint.
Sgovind
It is the wheel bearing. Checked with the mechanic. The sound I mentioned as brake shoes rubbing were actually the bearings grinding. No play.. but it may start wobbling soon if not changed. Thanks!
