After routinely ranking among the fastest-selling new vehicles on sale as recently as the summer of 2022, the Ford Mustang Mach-E has since cooled off considerably. In fact, the EV crossover actually ranked as one of the slowest-selling used EVs on the market last November. However, that apparently didn’t hurt overall used Ford Mustang Mach-E sales across the entirety of 2023, as that particular model also ranked as one of the most popular choices in that regard according to new data from iSeeCars.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E ranked as the seventh most popular used EV in 2023 by accounting for 4.6 percent of all one- to five-year-old used EV sales in the U.S. – a bit higher than 2022, when it compensated for 3.7 percent of that same mix. This result placed it behind the Tesla Model 3 (34.9 percent), Tesla Model Y (11.9 percent), Chevy Bolt EV (6.9 percent), Nissan Leaf (6.2 percent), Tesla Model S (5.6 percent), and the Tesla Model X (5.5 percent), as well as ahead of the Audi e-tron (2.9 percent), Porsche Taycan (2.4 percent), and Volkswagen ID.4 (2.2 percent).

To come up with these results, iSeeCars analyzed over 9.2 million used car sales from the last five model years (between 2018 and 2022 this time around). Each model’s share of used car sales data was calculated nationally, as well as within each metro area and state.

“Most of the top-ranking electric cars are showing their age, with only the Model Y being relatively new to the market,” said Karl Brauer, iSeeCars Executive Analyst. “And in this race of older EVs, the aging Bolt and Leaf pulled ahead of the aging Model S and Model X. Without major updates to Tesla’s most expensive vehicles they are likely to continue dropping in popularity.”
