Power window issue - help please...

2011 Fusion SE with 97 k...

As background, the drivers window appears to be going down slightly on its own as I drive, hit bumps, etc. Maybe a 1/16 or 1/8 of an inch. Not more than that. Just very slight.

So when I go to press the button to lower that window, nothing happens, the window stays in place. This is intermittent, not all the time.

Finding that I need to first lift the button to raise the window. Then i can press the button and the window lowers.

Any idea what's causing this?

Super helpful. Answers everything. Except the actual “why” part that I was seeking.

By the way, my Honda that’s 19 years old with 190 k doesn’t do that.

I don't have a Fusion, so I'm only going by general troubleshooting skills.

Does the window just "creep" down on you?  Like really slowly where you don't notice it?  That to me would mean something mechanical like the motor.

If you actually hear the motor just briefly engage to drop, to me that means electronics like the window switch.

Just spit balling here...

Yes, it's the "creep" down, really slowly, don't notice it like you mention.  I don't hear the motor but its doing the creeping while driving so loud enough to not hear then anyhow.

Was wondering if it could be the regulator.  Think they help hold the window up in place.

I would start with the regulator personally.
