  1. Lucky for me .Just hope the thing looks better with the camo off then the vibe I get now. I truly want to like Ford products as much as I did in the past, problem is, too many just aren't appealing to me anymore. You've got a limited selection of Fords that have style or that want factor, IMHO.
  2. Seems you guys are quoting high on the count of EB's on the road. Based on the Sept. 2013 F-Series sales figures, which are actually higher than what the F-Series has sold on average over the past 3yrs, those figures just don't add up. F-Series sold 60,456 last month, which I'd say based on historical patterns, roughly 50% are F150 and 50% SD. So we'll say 30,228 F150's were sold. Also based on the previous trends, 43% of those were EB models. Rounding up to the nearest 100, we'll say Ford sold 13,000 F150 EB's in the month of September. Sorry, but that is a far cry (or about 1/3 less vehicles) from 20K-22K EB equipped F150's each month. And for the 600K figure. If we took that rough 13,000 and multiplied it by 36 months/3yrs, which I'm not sure it's technically been on the road that long, you only come out to 468K units. Again good figures, but not close to the 600K figure stated. You have to sell for another roughly 10months to get to that 600K figure.
  3. Will wait to see it with the wrapper off, but as of right now, meh. Nothing that appears to excite or interest me about the vehicle.
  4. Which can also be said about users on a forum. Ford is fixing the issue, great that is in their best interest. Even though they are fixing the problem, you still can't discount the fact that yes there is/was an issue that owners experienced, that lead to the CR recommendation or lack there of for the EB. CR usually has a 7-10 year history of the vehicle, where some years the product may be recommended and others it is not. In future years once Ford has eliminated this issue completely, and any other issue owners may have experienced with the EB, then CR might recommend it. It's like the '07 Tundra debacle. CR automatically recommended it when it launched because it was a Toyota. After many reported issues, they removed it from their recommended list. It took a few years for the Tundra to get moved back to the recommended list, once Toyota and/or owners proved the Tundra issues had been resolved. Same thing here with the EB F150. Once it is proven, I could see the EB on the recommended list. But just because they are fixing the problem doesn't mean it should or will be automatically put on the recommended list.
  5. Can tell you when testing my F150 prior to purchase, you could notice a significant difference off the line with the 3.73 versus the 3.55. Sure, maybe the every day joe wouldn't notice, but even during test drives I could feel the difference between the two. Not sure how much fuel cost difference I'd experience if I had gone with the 3.55 instead, but was willing to sacrifice that for the difference in drive,
  6. Regarding my above post. The gearing for each, 5.0 or 5.4 could potentially be a factor and play into the drivers perception as well. If their 5.4 had 3.73 and the 5.0 had 3.55, I'm sure their perception and experience could be a factor.
  7. I agree the 5.4 was being beat by the Dodge 5.7 in testing, and the 6.2L equipped Silverado. But both of those were much newer or updated motors with more power. Yes the 5.0 replaces the 4.6 and EB the 5.4. But how can you say it's truly and only perception? Keep in mind they had a 5.4, so opting for the 5.0 in a sense is downgrading to the 4.6 in the new trucks. The 5.4 had 365 ft-lbs (@ 3750rpm), so the new 5.0 has 380 ft-lbs (@ 4250 rpm), a small increase in both ft-lbs and rpm range, but not a significant jump. The big difference between the 5.0 and 5.4 is the HP (300/310 to 360). http://www.f150forum.com/f38/torque-curves-all-motors-but-4-6l-2v-110234/ Here's a listing of what members there listed at the torque curve.
  8. If memory serves me correctly (I'm sure someone here will have recent figures), since the new motors were installed, the EB and 5.0L have sold in similar amounts, which would make the above comment moot. Since there are roughly as many 5.0L on the road as there are EB's, seeing higher complaints on the EB is a clear sign the 5.0L is more reliable, or that 5.0L owners don't complain about their problems as much. Based off this article (http://wot.motortrend.com/boosted-ford-f-150-ecoboost-sales-top-200000-units-251723.html#axzz2g84wwaJ1), which was from August 2012, the EB accounted for 43% of F150 sales. The 5.0L and 6.2L accounted for 46% combined. Which we all know and as the article states, there is a low take rate on the 6.2L (mostly Raptor models), so I'd guesstimate maybe 3%-6% of the 46% are 6.2L, meaning 40%-43% are 5.0L sales. So my uneducated guess would say nearly as many 5.0L F150's are sold or have been sold as EB F150's. If the volume of 5.0L's on the road are the same as EB's, it would be surprising if more EB owners complained, unless EB owners were experiencing issues while 5.0L owners weren't.
  9. Can't describe all the issues with the EB, other than there being problems with the trucks losing all power and going into limp home mode. Know there was a post here, as well on various other F-Series forums describing the problem, something like condensation in the turbos or something like that. But otherwise when I do visit various F150 forums, you do see a lot more problems from EB owners than you see with 5.0L owners.
  10. Reliable? Tell that to my neighbor who had an '07 2500 Duramax that he traded for a '10 2500 Duramax that has had as many issues as the '07. Can't say all the issues he has, but he's always complaining about a problem in the truck. Prior to his '07 he had an '03 SD 6.0PSD, which he states these Duramax are as problematic as that 6.0 was.
  11. Thanks for the clarification. As for appearance, I like all 99+ SD's. Can't say one truly looks better than the next, as there are aspects I prefer of each, but looks like a nice evolution of the design. As for interior though, there have been light years worth of updates inside between 99 and now.
  12. So you like the Silverado HD (minus the bumper) better than the Ford SD? Interesting. I get to see the neighbors 2010 Silverado 2500 every morning and simply can not get used to that huge chrome front bumper.
  13. Wait. No one here has responded yet about how CR is being biased and not recommending the EB because they hate the EB? I am totally shocked.
  14. I've actually seen a few on a couple F150 forums. Not a huge number of owners, but there are some that admit they preferred the low end torque on their 5.4L versus the 5.0L. Can't tell you how much is the individuals perception versus reality.
  15. I agree the HD Chevy looks much better than the 1/2 ton, but still not overly appealing IMO. Still hate that front bumper, just something about it makes it unattractive. And the GMC, good lord, I don't know if the 1/2 ton or the HD model looks good, they both are horrendous, again IMO.
  16. Now keep in mind, it's been roughly a decade since I last dealt with them, so I do hope they have changed their approach and handling of situations. But when I dealt with Ford and their direct customer service, many times they were just as bad if not worse than the dealers customer service. Incompetent, unhelpful, rude and simply made me never want to purchase a Ford again. If Ford expects high standards from their dealers, I sure hope they have rectified the issues they have internally first to set a standard.
  17. Problem with sports, is sure that history is nice, but it's a "what have you done for me lately" industry, so those prior years mean nothing this season.
  18. Well, my father-in-law and I are huge Broncos fans (just went to the MNF Broncos/Raiders game), having his girl friend rooting for the Chiefs makes for some good times and jokes, but would prefer she root for the hometown winner. And I know the Chiefs are 3-0, but after going 2-14 last year, I need more proof they are a winning team. I am glad it's over, finally. And she loved every minute of the looking and test drives. The point she started hating the process, and almost said she didn't want a new car was sitting down with the salesman and playing the game. I sure hope it's flawless and lasts us a long time. Know there were issues with the Rogue CVT in the first couple years, but sounds like most (if not all) those CVT issues have been resolved. That could explain it!
  19. Thanks! She loves it so far, but only been about 5 days. And of course the little kids love it, but anything new is always cool to them. That's what I'm saying. Will have to talk to them as I'm puzzled about why she'd opt for an Escape when he's had issues with his and she knows how displeased he is. Then again, maybe she was simply tired of hearing me nag her about driving a Chevy and she needed to upgrade to a Ford. If so, hope the nagging her about them Chiefs will get her to jump to becoming a Broncos fan. Yeah, I know, those last two are unlikely, but it sounded good. Anyways, I'll try to get the scoop from her the next time I see her, including the motor, pkg and options she selected.
  20. I can see that (and familiar with both phrases), but I'd say it's 50/50. Many times it's the user, but just as many times it's been the software. But will admit, the MFT product is slowly getting better. It's funny watching trained people at the dealer show potential customers MFT, an error occurs, freezes or sluggish, then they try to say ignore the issue.
  21. Most likely they won't give it back, at least from my experience when an item has been warrantied out. Pay for yourself and sure they'll let you keep the old one.
  22. And the survey says..... After much contemplation, the wife narrowed her options to the Legacy and Rogue. She likes the new Rogue, but was too anxious and couldn't wait. So we spent quite a few hours testing driving and looking at different exterior color combos, which were limited since she wanted the light interior. After much debate, the wife went with a 2013 Rogue S with Special Edition. As stated previously, the wife isn't into leather, nor many bells and whistles. The Special Edition package gave her all she wanted in a back-up camera and bluetooth. It also provided alloy wheels over the steel wheels with caps and XM satellite radio. The deciding factor of the Rogue over the Legacy was ultimately the slightly higher seating position. We've also had great history with Nissan products, owning an '86 Pulsar and '04 Altima, as well as having owned a '76 (Datsun) B210 and '93 SER. Placed an order for WeatherTech front, rear and cargo floor liners this weekend, being winter is right around the corner. And man they've gone up in price since ordering them for my '06 F150. On a side note, my father-in-law's girlfriend purchased a new Escape this past week. No pics or ideas on the pkg or options as of yet, but will provide them next time I see the two of them. Good news is though, she converted over from driving a Malibu.
  23. Wife dislikes the Explorer look, to her the style reminds her too much of every other mid-size CUV on the road these days. Plus the size was a factor. As stated in a previous post, she really wanted a Flex, but after a couple test drives she found it was simply to big for her liking in day to day travels and why we downgraded in size.
  24. Unsure what you are trying to mean by built for a price point to undercut competition. Nissan has always offered low end and high end models of their vehicles to meet all price points and provide the majority of amenities offered in other vehicles. Mix/Mash of designs, interesting. My thoughts were the opposite, as IMO, it looks more cohesive and design elements appears to flow better than the many of the small CUV's on the market today. You can really see many of the same design elements across the Nissan lineup now, mostly in the profile/fender/shoulder designs. This looks more similar to a mini-Pathfinder now than the older models looking more mini-Murano. But will say this actually looks better than the new Pathfinder, which is okay and looks much better in person, but the Pathfider still has areas I dislike, such as the taillamps.
