  1. I have a question----Im in Atlanta I have a really good friend that came from Sterling Heights. He has 17 years in and we all know the fate of AAP.Ive been on his ass daily about calling the local there to see if he can go home.He did however take the enhanced moving allowance.Sterling told him the only way he gets to go back is if he gets laid off here.Well we all know the fate of AAP now.My self I have only 7 yrs so Im done with FoMoCo.Does he have a chance? It sounds like things are uncertain at Sterling as well. thanks
  2. Easy with the blanket statements if you are not in Atlanta. I ride with a man from Sterling Heights thats on his 6th plant.I have a several friends from Wixom(the ones that work).I have a friend from Sharronville that went to Batavia. Most of us "backward ass contry folks" treat people with respect. Its the smat ass, know it all, aint gonna hit a lick becuase my sorry ass knows how to circumvent the system people that we dislike. But Ill say this. This Georgia Boy is wise enough to see this ride is almost over I doubt very seriously i'd relocate if I had the chance.I guess we in the south take as much pride our families and heritage as we do the things that money can buy. Most of the people here feel the same way.Im not chasing a company around that has to put fires out everywhere and all the time.It makes no sense what so ever. Why would I leave my home when I can find work here? And if we are so backward why in the hell are so many Yankees here?So are these "people" you hear, are they riding whatever train they can becuase the union allows it?And becuase it is a right to work state my options are not as limited as yours would be if your plant was one of the remaining ones not yet announced. So for your greedy little sake you better hope your plant is safe.P.S. Its not inbreeding, she was his stepsister. B)
  3. I am posting this under my husband's screen name... I too, am worried BUT.. we live in Atlanta and I work in the Delta Airline city and Ford is not the only ones with this problem. We have known about this for a long time and if we as Ford families have not taken steps to prepare ourselves than, we only have ourselves to blame. Unfortunately we cannot rely on Coroporate America for our futures, only ourselves. Yes, as spouses it makes us sick, mad and worried.. I cannot imagine what it does to our other halves though. They are the ones with the rug to be pulled out. It's not just us guys, its thousands of families in different BIG companies. Hopefully Monday will bring us all good news and we will not be like the rest of them. We might actually get to be fortunate. Best to all...
  4. I stand corrected. My error dawned on me about an hour into the shift.I expected to get shit.Oh well what can ya do?
  5. Actually your both wrong it should be "they're" I think you both understood what he meant so why fuck with someone?
  6. If im not mistaken I read a few months back that Lyons and hazel are going to another co. I cant remember what co. But Padilla is retiring.
  7. I agree with you However the key word is collective. Its an agreement between the UAW and Ford.Im just saying if there were some counseling by the UAW then people like you and I woulndt have to wait on our union rep. becuase they are tied up with dead beats that otherwise should know better all by themselves.Instead we have contractual language, umpire decisions, letters of understanding, and a lot of other wasted resources that allow loop holes for them and make it harder for folks like us that dont know the steps to the dance. have a Merry Christmas
  8. Becuase its the least they can do for those that come to work and do they're part.Maby if the union kept track then these people could be counciled before it got to a diciplinary stage. If the union sent out attendance letters the message would sink in a little better becuase they would be warned in advance.
  9. Uh gregory6.That hole your digging seems to be getting deeper.Let it go man.All you have told anyone is that you work at a Canadian plant.Cmon man we are dying to know where?Does it have a local? Whats your story Im starting to think that you have never worked in a Ford plant. But if you insist on making your self look silly.Ill continue to laugh.
  10. Well said Imawhosure I think thats one of the most logical post I've read since this all began!
  11. So fill me in.What plant? What local?
  12. Well you dont read current papers then. The news about Atlanta you speak of is way older than July. And if the Atlanta Journal&Constitution was wrong the way they are about our plant with a regularity. Then what do any of us care what a Canadian paper said last July? Was it an 04 or 05 paper you were reading anyway? And you can put 2&2 together until you reach a million and you'll still be wrong. Now what it is your trying to is beyond me.But alot of good people visit this forum and never post. The ones that do I can fairly say know your wrong. However others may not and we are going through an uncertain time with our company. So know this UPFRONT.While im a pretty easy going and try not to get in to it with anyone in here.Alot of the men and women in here like to take speculation and crucify you with facts. So just be carefull what you post
  13. If im not mistaken (im sure ill be corrected if i am) but isnt the dollar raise we are supposed to forgo going to be like a buffer for the pension fund? If thats the case go ahead give me a lump sum now.Becuase id be willing to bet if im still with Ford when I reach retirement age there wont be a pension fund. That in its self is a major factor. Now you couple that with health care for retirees and active employees your talking about some serious money.I bet retirees from the Big three account for a large percentage of the total number of retirees in the first place. So if we conceed (and I do not want to) And the dollar was given to us in the first place.Would it change things like, the profit sharing formula, maby matching our tespe accounts even though Ford stock is in bad shape right now.Or maby a one time lump sum to payable to an IRA of your own choice not Joe or Jane Line worker. That way it wont get spent unless its invested poorly. Im willing to help I just want to be able to retire comfortably. And I dont want to get screwed in the process.
  14. I appreiciate the words.I do get worked up.But any one that knows me knows I care and I also stand for what I believe. But as much hell as I raise I still know Im in this with alot of people. And I wish everyone the best.
  15. Thanks MrG.Im more pissed than scared. Im not sure ill be on the market if I go through what they did in 79. If I get laid off ill find work. But alot of good people(not just in ATL)will be affected.Ive heard the old timers say the same thing. But too so many its very little help at this point. But on the lighter side I did get to chomp on a little ass to get a quality issue resolved. It took two weeks but tonight I was entertained by a man that either lied to me or really was as clueless as he looked. But i think the issue is truley resolved. If not ill have some more fun.
