  1. Any predictions on which vehicle KCAP is getting? Transit Connect?
  2. Good for all of us: Michigan, our union, our company, and our country.
  3. Remember when they briefly considered calling the Fiesta the name of the concept vehicle, the Verve? The Escape is a great vehicle (full disclosure: I love my '11 Limited), and I'd say it has great name recognition w/ the buying public. OTOH, maybe a new name would generate even more interest? I can see both sides. I agree---the Vertrek looks like the Kuga---very much a winner.
  4. Posting @ Indy today reads: 115 production jobs at Cleveland site, due to production increase.
  5. At Indy, here's what we heard will happen at Saline: on January 3, the company will put Ford signs back up, each Saline employee will get a $10k performance bonus, each employee will get a voucher for a new SHO Taurus, and there will be a pizza/ice cream party in your executive garage. Just what we heard.
  6. Hmmm....so, does the Rouge currently have elec. apprentices?
  7. At Indy, our electrician/pyro boys are doing great---they haven't started a single fire! I think it's been a good opportunity for our elecs. to learn an additional skill; I'm glad most of 'em took it. Having said that, please, pretty please LAP and KTP: take some metal trades!!
  8. I'll second that, fmc. I've visited Louisville 3 times so far this year; lovely countryside, nice people, too. Downtown Louisville was very nice: nice restaurants, friendly people, and it was very clean.
  9. Agreed. Sheesh Billy, I got no problem w/ you getting $10 million this year. But damnit, give the hourly and salaried folks back what we gave up. That's all.
  10. Here, here! Congrats to the entire design team. Now, bean counters (and I luv you guyz, too): don't overprice it!
  11. JMHO: the sign company (companies) Ford hired to replace/install Ford/Visteon/ACH signs---the contract prolly included hauling the old signs off, at all the plants. At Indy, one of the fan rooms on the roof has an old "Quality is Job 1" sign, and an old "Merry Xmas" sign. That's it. Ford/Visteon signs were hauled away by sign company. Question for Rawsonville and Sterling folks: when you became Ford again, did they use the old signs?
  12. soup, can anyone at KCAP confirm that KCAP is or isn't getting replacement product when the Escape goes to LAP? Transit Connect, maybe?
  13. It ain't much, but 170 jobs is better than none. We know VD rocks the house; it looks like this secures Rawsonville as well. For folks at VD and the R-ville: is some of this work already being done there?
  14. 3 at Indy; two back on production, one on the street. It suks: they're good workers, and we could use the help.
  15. Voted. Glad we can help-out a coworker---especially someone in the best skilled trade classification! :0}
  16. One hammer mech--er, I mean, millwright---laid off from Indy went to Sterling.
  17. http://www.freep.com/article/20100327/BUSINESS01/3270343/1331/business01/Mercury-to-see-a-new-Tracer Maybe a little extra volume for MAP? That'd be cool, eh?
  18. And the race to the bottom continues... $12/ hour and even fewer benefits. What can people making $12/hr afford to buy? Not even the cheapest GM product! Next, the other "advanced technology" companies will tell THEIR workers they have to lower their pay to "be competitive..." and so on. Folks, the U.S. is turning into a third-world country. Rant over.
  19. This new PI vehicle gonna need a a tough tranny, too---you guys can make it!
  20. http://www.freep.com/article/20100312/BUSINESS01/100312040/1210/Fords-Police-Interceptor-more-durable-than-Crown-Vic-Ford-says
  21. Also, mgmt outsources the running of stores. New company doesn't staff stores on midnites or weekends. So, when you need something, your supv has to call security to come out, open stores, and go get the item. Awesome!
