  1. Just checking, I've had many arguments with people who think a 454 SS Chevelle handeled like a go-kart. I checked today to make sure. When the 440 Hemi was rated on net horsepower, before smog equipment, it made 330 hp. The 4.6 L (281 cu in.) makes 315, with emmission equipment that would totally choke that hemi. 440 Hemi? Do you mean the 440 wedge or the 426 Hemi? Yeah, there is NO doubt that the newer vehicles engines make awesome power without all the fanfair of the older pony and muscle cars. Some how it doesn't seem right - You should have to pay for having the power by having an interior that sounds like youre in a 55 gallon drum being beaten with a stick, overheating at every traffic light, and 9 miles per gallon on a great day!
  2. I still think even the pedal assembly is simply another stop-gap measure. Did anyone read the complaints (not the sensationalized accidents) regarding sudden acceleration? It seems to my mind that about 1/2 were occurring when the drivers were BRAKING and not on the throttle at all. The fact they were on the brakes was why there wasn't an accident. I really think it is a software bug.
  3. You know... something has been bugging me about this "vehicle"... and your photos finally brought it out.... it looks like a modern interpretation of an AMC Eagle wagon - without the benefit of 4 wheel drive...
  4. My absolute bottom feeder car was a hand me down 1983 Renault Alliance 1.4L with 5 spd Manual.... thank god it was manual because you needed to rev all 64 hp to get that POS moving - HATED that car. My 1987 2.3L mustang was pretty weak too with all of 88HP - I had a buddy with a Sportster Harley that had more HP. I remember negotiating with the insurance company " It'll be x dollars for 6 months.....(me) What? Why so high? (them) well, it's a sports car..(me) It's got 88 friggin HP - and a 0-60 thats' timed with an hourglass!"
  5. So... you started slowing down going up a hill on what a presume to be a two lane road... the guy behind you decides to try to pass the slower car and when he tries the guy in the car he's trying to pass speeds up? Do I have this straight?
  6. Whoohoo... 'bout the same as the Mopar package. For me, the scoop doesn't work without a 440 six pack under the hood - and a T-handle shifter?!?! in a Mopar?!?!? Isn't that one of the 7 seals?
  7. Your friggin right there.... WE pay for them!
  8. Uhhhh... what were we talking about? I kinda lost my train of thought (more like derailed)
  9. Current: 2006 Mercury Milan 2.3 5spd auto - 72,000 flawless miles... only tires and windshield wipers (and oil changes of course!) 2003 Ford Windstar 3.8 4 spd auto 105,000 - engine good - 2nd trans and electrical gremilins (ie door locks and windows not working intermittently) 1969 Mach 1 Bb390 4 spd.... 105,000 miles - third engine (not the engine's fault - it's called racing) Past: 1997 Ford Contour Sport 2.0 5 spd manual - 178,000 - cylinder head cracked when rad hose blew. 1996 Mercury Mystique 2.0 5 spd manual 78,000 - 95 year old man in a Datsun B-210 ran a stop sign.... 1987 Ford Mustang 2.3 5 spd manual 110,000 - Dump truck and a blind 1 lane overpass tunnel 1965 Ford Mustang 200 six 3 spd 98,000 - not sure why I sold this one....
  10. From everything I read so far... the jury decided correctly. The driver in your case is the responsible party. The driver had it well within their power to avoid the incident. If the engine revs uncontrollably, the brakes fail, and the miraculously falls into gear.. the only thing the driver had to do was turn off the damn key. I have a whole diatribe in mind for this... but you know what? It really isn't worth the time. My sympathies on your injuries, and have fun on your crusade - but I think your dragons are merely windmills.
