  1. The stems in question were distributed by Tech. They sell and distribute tire repair products like tire patches and plugs to tire shops. They drive around in big trucks just like Snap-on. So people buying the stems had little or no reason to question the quality of the stems because tech is a respected company in the tire world.
  2. The pot calls the kettle black! Nissan, Honda and all other transplants contribute very little to the American economy according to almost every economist. It has nothing to do with being patriotic and everything to do with spending money were it matters most.
  3. If you had new tires installed within the last couple years, I would recommend reading this. http://blogs.consumerreports.org/safety/20...valve-stem.html
  4. In all the excitement, I just realized it is a Challenger!
  5. I have seen three Challengers already this week. Two of them on car carriers, and one at the local grocery store this morning. All were orange in color. All I can say is WOW!!! I almost hit some other dude in the lot that was also "rubbernecking" the car.
  6. As usual, I enjoy reading your long winded and intellectual posts retro-man. But at what point is it VITAL that we buy whats made here? One thing I would like to point out is the example people always seem to use of comparing the origin of televisions to automobiles. Now that I understand the complexity of the auto industry and the countless spin-off jobs that are created, it aggravates me when someone is quick to ask me were my Mitsubishi TV set was made, when I preach the importance of buying domestic. The domestic auto industry is said to employee up to 10% of the American workforce in some capacity. Of that, only 2% reflect employment at transplants in America. I'm not sure how many people it takes to make a big screen TV, but my guess television manufacturing does not put a dent in the American economy. On the other hand, data shows that domestic auto-manufacturing and the "Big Three" DO drive the local economy. It is sad to see some of the narrow minded and selfish veiws of some that feel they must buy what is "best for them". The irony is, some of these same fools rely on a paycheck from the Big Three! I always choose American (domestic) first when I make a BIG investment. My vehicles are always Ford's, my toys are by Polaris, my lawn tracters are by John Deere. It is my gut feeling that items of this magnatude contribute greatly to the local economy. Heck, Polaris even makes its own engines in the USA. Some are quick to point out that this is America and they can purchase whatever the hell they want. But when we choose to make a large investment in a foreign product, we choose to make a large investment in a foreign economy. Why would we want to ever do that?
  7. I took an Educational buyout from Ford in Jan. 07 and started college full time. As a student and former line worker, I prefer to write papers and give speeches on the "Big Three" every chance I get, as a way of giving back to the UAW. I did a "Buy American Cars" persuasive presentation in my communications 101 class. I found that most of my audiance had little clue that Big Three cars provide far greater to the local economy than foreign cars. I presented my research and showed how foreign cars take market share away from the Big Three. I was also able to provide research showing that states with the highest forclosures had direct ties to the auto industry and the Big Three. I feel that we are obligated to educate and promote the facts to anyone that will listen. I do this on a daily bases even though I have long forgotten how to do my jobs on the line. As a Big Three dealership, you could be doing more than just telling the public what to buy. You could show them that "Big Three" automobiles boost the local economy. I know that with a little effort it can be done. 8. You can sit in the back of the FAIL bus! Here in Chicago, they only plow main streets in winter. My P71 was lousy on unplowed snow when it was rutted up. Like say when you had to back out of your driveway while turning in to the ally. It was managable with 50lbs in the trunk.
  9. We saw the preview just before The Dark Knight also. It was a Mustang until they added a Sherman tank to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CapK69KBvc
  10. Makes the Edsel look good; not that I do not like the Edsel.
  11. I quit listening to Wall Street years ago (Teck stocks). I just loaded up on F stock. Its going to be a fun ride heading up!
  12. In my opinion, If you can not offord to lose it, cash out. It was great when interest was hovering around 6%. I know I had a substantual amout of cash in my Interest Advantage account. But now the interest is down in the 3.5% range.

  14. Have them put it on a rack and put it in neutral. Spin both rear wheels the same direction one revolution and count how many times the drive shaft turns. 3.5 revs should be 3:55, 3.75 should be 3:73.
  15. They just plain leaked water on my 86 Mustang GT. The dealer changed out all of the weather stripping twice and they still leaked like a siv.
  16. This is not the first time this has come up. http://www.nlcnet.org/article.php?id=562
  17. The other day I heard a call on my police scanner for a natural gas leak. The fire dept. responded to find that thieves stripped someones house and left the gas line wide open.
  18. I hear about this in the Chicago burb's all the time. They have been taking manhole covers around here for years and the idoits at the local salvage yard would try to resell them. They cut the copper grounding wires right off the utility poles. Alumium sidding and copper plumbing is stripped off of homes in broad daylight.
  19. Not all are Mustangs but who cares! Ok, back to the books
  20. You can probably guess what part of town this happened in and be right. I remember a bad accident on Chicagos south side involving a guy in a phone company truck. The locals went through his pockets as the man lay on the ground out cold.
  21. Sum bitches snagged me for doing 81 in a 65. At least my fine went towards something cool.
