  1. I'm surprised that the IT group didn't learn from the previous round of Salaried buy-outs. If anyone believed that the work load was going to magically disappear with the people was in a dream of their own! The folks(Salaried) I know that took a transfer to another plant after AAP closed are not real happy with the new working arrangements. Their personal workload has grown by at least 50% without benefit of monetary reward...oh, I forgot...they will be eligible for part of the 2.7% in the pot!
  2. I really don't believe that statement! Finger-pointing solves nothing! Those that are remaining had better find a way to work together! It was difficult enough when fully staffed!
  3. You are correct in stating that the worker is a vital part! However, the quality center helps to keep the eye on the target. It isn't simply a showplace of charts and meetings. There are always issues to address in order to maintain or improve quality --someone, such as the VRT's and such are also, a vital element....don't feel put out by the announcement--be proud of the fact you have been an important part of the solution! :banana piano:

It never ceases to amaze me that when things are going good most folks agree that everyone should reap the benefits but, when times are tough...don't ask for sacrifices....you can't have it both ways and stay in business...oh, and as for "same job, same money"---check what the profitable competitors are paying!
  6. A very proud group at AAP....a group that I am proud to have known. We didn't always get along but, I knew that the trades were trying to hold it together. There were times when money was more important than maintenance but, that was Ford's decision. I never have understood how a company can reduce the spending on machinery as it gets older...some sort of oxymoron, me thinks... Anyway, stand proud! ...and if there is ever anything I can do--let me know. There are plenty of jobs out there. Don't let anyone kid you--Ford has the best trained workforce in the world. The companies that know this will be glad to scoop them up and make them part of their team. Good Luck to you All!...Bob
  7. Proud-- is what all of us from Atlanta feel....It was a sad but, proud sight to behold. Those among us knew that we did everything in our power to make the last Taurus as good as the rest. I'm proud to have been a part of making history. Everyone in attendance knows how proud we all are, were and always will be... because we know that WE did our very best in Quality, Productivity and Cost regardless of the outcome. Ford had a Team to be proud of...Let us hope that those that follow will be just as PROUD! Bob Thank-you, Karrmann....very sweet, indeed!

Have they set NAP up with the department of labor and job service yet? That will happen...there's a lot coming to assist you in jobs and education.... :cheerleader:

  10. I heard that salaried get $500k and life-time lease privileges. Boy, what I wouldn't give to have their package. They always get better than the hourly! And they don't even have to pay dues.... :bandance: :bandance: :kissass:
  11. You give me 18.5m with CEO power and I guarantee you I can surround myself with just the right people to turn this company around. I can't believe someone hadn't thought of this before.... Just as it is in real estate--location, location, location! In the car biz--exciting product, exciting product, exciting product! There has to be some really cutting-edge designer out there that would love a challenge. Of course, you then have to get the product to market in a timely fashion. We probably need to put a good PD launch team together with the balls to take it to market. Speaking of the Edge---this is what I mean by timely ---remember the 2002 NAIAS? that's when the Edge was a concept. Oh darn, they beat us to the punch, again... However, if this product is as great as even I believe it to be then, why did it take Ford till now to bring it home???? I just don't get it!!!!!!! :shrug:
  12. I usually don't comment on topic such as this...but, I just thought some of the outsiders might like to know that we have been trying to backfill the ranks at AAP with temporary help. Here's an interesting tidbit....the most recent group of temps had a fallout (quit) rate of about 80%....so much for easy jobs that anyone can do! :shrug:

" Taurus sales are 100% fleet --has no impact on 500 sales...except maybe for the 500's that might otherwise go to fleet and drive down the residual value..and that is against the business plan for 500 and Fusion.

  17. This one was expected! The only product they make is the seats for AAP. It's a shame but, there will be many more of these type job losses. Maybe Bush can create some "service sector" jobs to replace these losses!!!???
  18. IMHO---More of automotive suppliers have plants in Mexico. The shipping cost & time to Texas would be reduced....if, in fact, that is the plan!
  19. I can't imagine anyone that would pay a Camry price for something that looks like an ES330 or an Avalon. I know I wouldn't settle for paying less...... :lol: Come on folks....they are whipping the hell out of us and we just sit idly by and try to compete with the likes of the 500....The 500 is a great car....if you're an old fart, like me. The young folks wouldn't touch it but, they will sure as hell buy the ES--when they get the money.
