  1. Ok, herein lies the problem. Who's idea was it to end the SVT Cobra name? If they just kept that SVT Cobra going, they would not have to charge extra to have that stupid old fart's name on the car. A lot of current mustang fans were not even into cars or alive when he was cool, which was a lonnnnnnng time ago. I don't think they had any problem selling the last generation Cobra, correct me if I am wrong. Take that old man's name off the car and charge me under $40,000, and call it a SVT Cobra, not a GT500, and you could charge even less. They do own the 5.4L engine under the hood right, so they could supercharge it just like the last cobra, and make the price under $40,000 just like they said it would be originally. That makes too much sense for Ford, I forgot! Maybe they are thinking when he kicks the bucket soon that the cars will be worth more because his name is on then, that is a stupid idea, just like killing the SVT line of auto's.
  2. That '06 is pretty sharp, mind me asking what it goes for? I don't know too many saleen dealers around here in Michigan??? I wonder if it is around the price that a Shelby was originally going to be ($39,000), or more? Thanks.
  3. Hey, some people had this same question in the Ford,Lincoln-mercury lounge forum, you could maybe tell them the same thing. I was only aware of the new '07's with the option, that is cool information, thanks.
  4. I think if they follow the '05 gouging guidelines agreed upon by all Ford dealership owners at the 2004 price gouging conference, then the new Shelby will go for about $55,000-$60,000. I say this because I actually witnessed an '05 gt vertible marked up $15,000, so that makes the Shelby price out of reach for the typical mustang fan, so I don't want to hear any feal good stories from anyone at Ford about building this car for us fan's, it is being made for dealers to leech a huge bloodsucking profit from us lowly blood donors. Not me, I will not play the game. Later
  5. Sounds like you are convinced there is a method to their madness. Apparently listening to their fans desire's is not a part of their plan. I wish everyone would just come out and tell the truth instead of all the corporate bullshit lines that we get. Just like the shelby topic. Is it true that they want the car to be exclusive(bullshit), or is it due to their company fuel economy # (cafe I believe?) like I have heard suggested in other forums. I guess they think the typical mustang fan doesn't want to hear the truth about why they cannot get a shelby. I do! Why is Ford scared to yell at IT'S dealers about the gouging with the mustangs? They like to have everyone pissed off and shop elsewhere or what? The biggest signs in front of the dealers read FORD, not joe shmo's car lot. Just tell us the truth please,,,,,we can handle it. Man I wish I would have bought one of the last cobra's now. That was one of my favorite looking mustang's, at least on the outside, and the price was right. If I would have known what they would do to the shelby price I would have just snatched one of those cobra's up. I watched a video of them making the last generation cobra, that was done at the mustang plant, not at the rousch site like you suggest, I suspect the last bullitt and mach one were made at the old mustang plant also, oh well, someone has a plan right?
  6. I just watched most of those videos. He gets an A+ for the corporate bullshit lines he memorized. I thought the shelby was going to be $39,000. Now they are saying the low $40's. What a joke. They are going to eliminate the a-typical mustang fan from the car. I bet anyone who can afford the price after the dealer mark-up will just by a better car like a corvette or viper. This car is all about power, and just power. The interior looks cheap just like a normal mustang. I would pay $39,000, not $50-55,000. I hope I see a Shelby or two sitting on some lot just like I have seen '05 GT's sitting on lots of dealers who were trying to rape their customer's. I think I mirror a lot of fan's thoughts.....how dissapointing is this
  7. What kind of wheels are those? Did they have to do anything special to the car to make it ride good with the 20inchers? I am just asking because I see some aftermarket wheels at 18 inches advertised that they are for the mustang set up for the 18inch wheels from the factory? If you don't have to change anything, I will just order my car with the 17inchers for the winter, and get some fly aftermarket 20's like you have. Thanks for the information....Nice ride, I also would not be crazy about white, but your car pulls it off, with the top down at least anyway.
  8. I have read this in numerous places. Motortrend magazine and on the Mustang Source, and others which I am a memory loss for at the moment. What are the Rousch guys doing with those cars in the first place. Ford cannot make their own SE now or what? I forgot they don't need to, they came up with the great Cali special :boring: . I think if it comes out of Rousch, I will probably not be too interested if it is like their other cars which are overpriced at best. I looked at one locally which was stickered at 39,000. I think it was even only a stage one which seems like a mustang GT with some dress up body parts and nice wheels. It looked nice, but the same price as a 475hp Shelby, come on. Come on Ford, get it together so you can come out of the toilet. If it wasn't for all the truck sales in Texas they would probably be bankrupt already.
  9. All I can say is man that thing looks like crap, wtf are they thinking, I would take a v-6 rental car version of the mustang over that california special piece of crap. This is their special edition, what a joke. Yeah, lets axe the mach 1 and the bullit in favor of this piece of crap. Which bean counters were in charge of this crap. I could design a better special edition by ordering aftermarket parts at my house. Man,,,,,,,,,,ugly.
  10. Man, you guys are taking the words right out of my mouth. I have been disgusted since I saw an '05 Gt Vertible for $15,000 over the sticker price. What a freakin joke. Last time I looked, the big blue oval out in front of the dealership reads FORD. That means that you dealers are representing FORD, and the gouging will affect sales, guaranteed. OK, you make $10,000-$15,000 on one sale, but how many customers are you turning off that will buy your other products? I also have that sick, disgusted feeling in my stomach over this situation. Ok, Ford could build more GT500's, but that is not an excuse to gouge. Ok, you get your 3 GT500's in from Ford. Sell them to the first 3 people on your list, and at list price, and I bet you will have repeat customers. Man look how many Ford vehicles that angry man has listed on his post, he is a goldmine for Ford,,,,,,ooops, ,,,was a goldmine for Ford. As far as the dealer going back on his word, there is no excuse for that. If that happened to me, I would get a lawyer, and I would mount a negative advertising campaign to let everyone in the area know that that dealer is a bunch of scumbag jerks who lie. Anyway, since I have no shot at a GT500, I am also looking at a corvette, or ricer, or an '07 gt mustang. I own an '05 expedition, and would love to park a GT500 next to it, won't happen though, due to greed. I refused to shell out anything over sticker for the '05, and then I decided to wait and see the GT500 situation. What a freakin joke. Ford could step in to the dealer situation without "price fixing". These statements are such cop-outs by people, and they are using that as an excuse for the gouging. I am so turned off by Ford right now, and that includes the FORD DEALERS, key word being FORD. Guess what, I am not the only one......
  11. Hey, thanks for the information bama. I had already checked that out when the packages came out a while ago. I was wondering if anyone actually put any of those packages on their mustang. Guess I would be interested in the handling and hp package. The premium fuel thing doesn't bother me, I would like the extra horsepower. By chance do you know why Ford Racing's package is only advertising 20 horsepower increase when I think I saw one from possibly K & N which looks like the same package but is advertising 38-40hp gains. I cannot find my current issue of Mustangs and Fast Fords, thanks to one of my boys, but I thought it was a k & N kit, but I am sure about the advertised hp gains. Thanks for the info, looking forward to getting my '07 and adding some of the things that you have placed on yours. I like that cool starter button on the dash, not practical, but "blingy"! Thanks in advance for any info.
  12. Post #37 Site Owner Group: Admin Posts: 7,147 Joined: 1/29/04 From: Birmingham, AL Member No.: 1 Car: Project Source Horse Name: Brad 2007 Mustang Option Groups Comfort Group: Homelink Rearview Mirror, Heated Seats, 6-Way Power Passenger Seat Premier Interior Trim: Soft-Touch on IP, Console & Arm Rest, Aluminum Pedals Color Accent Package: Replaces ISAP, Includes Contrasting Color Cloth Seats Driver Ornamentation Package: Fleet Only, Old ISAP GT Appearance Package: Hood Scoop, Chrome Rolled Exhaust Tips, Intake Cover with Inset Pony Black Dash Panel: Canceled, May Return for Job 2 Chamois is a new light tan interior color; I hear it looks awesome. California Special will have two-tone leather seats, but no suede inserts. Available in black/camel or black/dove. The GT/CS will come with 64W Bullitt wheels. The spoiler we saw on the Grabber Orange V6 will be part of the V6 Exterior Sport Appearance Package only. It will not be an option on GT, and it will not be available until Job 2. Thought everyone would enjoy this, I found this on the mustang source web site as you can see. Now they just need to get some freakin painted outside rearview mirrors, and maybe 20-30 more horsepower with a better computer tune, and I will be happy! I guess my wishlist was about 90 percent fulfilled, I must have esp or something. I think I am set to order an '07 now, thanks ford, seems like you guys are trying to improve your cars now, not just the freakin trucks!
  13. See if you can take the car back and get an '07. It will come with sirius, heated leather seats, compas/temp/homelink rear view mirror, driver/passenger power seats as just some of the new options. The interior also will have some improvement options like some sort of soft touch components with aluminum gas/brake/clutch pedals. FYI, I found my information on the mustang source web site. Too bad you could not have waited a few months. I also read in motortrend that all the previous SE's like the bullit and mach 1 were axed, except for one, the Boss. It did not say if it will be out for '07, but it said it will have the unsupercharged version of 5.4L that the cobra has, probably good for around 375-400hp in my thinking. But seriously, you cannot get a factory sirius in an '06, if you wanted one that bad, you should have checked the web for info about the '07 model. This has been leaked out for about a week or so, maybe longer. You will have to settle on an aftermarket unit, they are available everywhere like best buy, circuit city, so on. Personally, I am going to order an '07, as they finally got some of the options in the car that I am looking for. Now if they would put painted outside mirrors on the freakin car, and add 20-30 horsepower with a better computer tune, I would be happy!
  14. Ha, Ha, Ha, looks like I complained loud enough for Ford to hear, I got my wish. I read on bama boy's website mustang source that they are having heated seats and the compas/temp mirror as well as power passenger seats as an option for '07 as a part of a new "comfort group", now all they need to do is get my painted outside mirrors and I will be happy. I knew they had to make some changes for sales purposes, bout time Ford, you are wising up after all, a little anyway, there is more to do, and then it will be a world class car.
  15. I don't know where you live, be here in Michigan, diesel is higher than regular, and has been for a while. I bet the higher mpg will not offset the cost of the diesel vs the unleaded. I think it would be good if they could run the e-85 stuff. just my two cents, I have an '05 XLT sport 4x4, so I know what you mean about the high cost of fuel for this vehicle!
  16. Funny man, you had me going for half a second,,,,on the real though, if you had any real info about the se's, I'd love it because then I could quit complaining. Oh, if it is more than a year on the se's, don't bother, because I will by a real bling mobile instead, maybe even put some scissor doors on it or some wheel spinners,,,,,just kidding, never thought those were cool when they were in for a hot minute, later
  17. Man, this is wierd, I have been looking on bama boy's forum on the Mustang Source, and even the stang's unleashed boards and there has been some discussions going on that almost mirror's the post's and reply's on this topic which I started. I know now that I am not the only one who would want a nicer mustang, and not the current one where Ford has cut corners in areas that are important to people who live more than 1/4 mile at a time. I am also seeing how the sales are already lagging on the current model. Time will tell, they may be able to get some real special editions out in the next 5 years or so (sarcastic) but I am not going to hold my breath. What a shame, the car has so much potential to be a world beater. Someone at Ford should have over-rid the beancounters and got some balls. Mark my words, this model will need incentives next year, and maybe even this year. What a shame, sucks to be right. I bet the camero (yuck) and challenger (more so yuck) will stomp all over the stang because they will put some effort into it. That is what I am looking for, fit/finish/quality/workmanship and most improtantly BLING, the japenese are winning for some reason. Open your eyes Ford.
  18. You are right, I could just opt for the coupe and save some cash, which I would probably just have to put back into the car to make it "bling :happy feet: " worthy, what is the difference? Man, this is like the topic that won't die, everytime I let it go for a while, someone will reply with something that gets me thinking again. That is cool though,,,, trying to talk me into the 'stang would not be very difficult, if you read my previous post, I am eternally linked to the birth of the mustang. I just don't want to plop down $30k for a car that seems a little shy of the cool factor once the newness of the car wears off after a few months. Man, I do feel sorry for anyone that paid that rape charge though, there have been stangs sitting around here (michigan) for months now. On the real though, anyone with any experience with cars in this price range could post some more helpful info, that would be great, I am in the market for a second car, in case you have not read any of my previous posts. Decisions man, tough. LATER
  19. I think you were talking to me when you said just get a corvette. I like them, but they have no rear seat. Believe it or not, my 3 and 1 year old boys fit perfectly in the back of a mustang. Now, me getting back there would be another story. Seeing some young hot thing losing her virginity in the back of that thing would be quite a feat using some great contorsion. Anyway, just cannot part with the back seat, might as well just ride my motorcycle rather than to get a corvette. My bike is faster, and I get more air in my face! I might take a 3 series for a test drive just for the heck of it. I think they look cool, better warranty, service included for some odd years, I think it is included while it is under warranty, better prestige, better treatment at the dealership, many reasons, but I am a mustang guy deep down at heart. The mustang was released on my birth date as far as I know, April 17th, even though I was born 10 years after it was released. Guess I have a connection with that car somehow. I still wish they would put out that real SE now, in the middle of the road between the cobra and the GT. I cannot afford $50,000-$60,000 for a cobra because I already have a pretty pricey Expedition. That is just my guess of the price after the greed mark-up of the jerkoff dealers, so what am I to do? I have to decide to sacrafice some gadgetry that all the cars in that price range seem to have to get a mustang. I am in the price range of a GT convertible manual tranny, so that includes the 3 series and acura TL, and infinity, and such, my list has some cool cars, decisions. It will be fun test driving whatever I can get my hands on until I decide. Thanks again to the posters who had a real reply with information for me, not just to try to cut down cars I am interested in. I see now I am getting some real replies from people who are not brainwashed by Ford. Thanks.
  20. Hey, thanks for the vote of agreement. I knew I was not crazy. I kept getting beat on by these jugheads who think the 'stang is the only car in the world. I love mustangs too, but I am in your boat thinking that there are just some creature comforts that are important to me now, more than when I was 18. BTW, I am only 30 now, but the current gen mustang is probably not as appealing to me as it would have been when I was 18 and did not care about the "bling" like I do now. Can't imagine a car without AC now, but when I was a teenager, no big deal. Guess I have evolved into some sort of sophistication, which is what I wish for the mustang. For instance, I love the idea of the "my color" option, but why could they not have all the dash light integrated instead of just the guages? It is called evolution. This car may be too retro for me. If I was rich and could just afford to have a drag racer in my garage, ok then, but I want some "bling", oh well, still haven't made up my mind, lots of tough choices, I have a short list, including the mustang. Looks like you ditched the cobra for a beemer. How do you like it? I bet you did not have to add a bunch of aftermarket crap to the car to make it cool, right! I am not sold on some of the new styles of the bmw's though, but the 3 series still looks sharp to me. Seems like I don't like too many other beemers unless they are way out of my price range, figures right.
  21. Could be right about that, wait about 6 months and look again. I think the new expedition looks like crap too. I have an '05 and love it compared to the look of the new one. I liked the last two navigators better also. If the tahoe had a fold in rear seat that would sell the deal for me. Guess I will be keeping my '05 for a while.
  22. You are explaining some of the reasons why our domestic car companies are in the crapper. Just like when you said "that is what I chose from" that is crap. Being too comfortable at the top for so long is now why they are looking up at the Japanese companies. They should be trying to make a world class car, even if it costs them a couple of hundred dollars profit, just to regain some freakin prestige that they don't have. Guess what, my world is the real world. Look around at the nature of the business. "Your World" is heading out the door, in fact, that door opened in the late '80's and '90's. Don't bad mouth me because I speak the truth. I am not asking a lot out of a model soon to be 3 years old when the '07's come out. It is pitiful that they don't have a real SE out, and don't seem to be planning one for '07 (california special is crap, fake scoops galore). Guess I will end up joining the hordes and buy foreign, that is what you want to hear right? I grew up here in Michigan in the backyard of the big 3, my dad retired from GM. That does not mean I will not shop around for the best product. Guess what, this current model mustang is starting to look unfresh very fast. Some freaking painted mirrors and heated seats. I am so hard to please. I am already seeing even GT's sitting for months on the lots. I laugh when I go by the unsold '05 models. That is obviously a sign of a greedy dealer getting what they deserve! Whatever makes you happy, if you are happy with the standard, enjoy. I am looking for a car from a company that is trying to go out of its way to please customers and be a notch ahead of the norm. I was not too happy about Ford allowing its dealers to charge that rape charge. It will be the same with the GT 500. Pitty, that will hurt sales more. I know the dealers are independant blah blah blah. Ford could have said something to influence their actions.
  23. Hey, thanks for your honesty and information. Some jerks on this site act like the mustang is the only car on the planet. Sounds like you looked at the same cars I am considering. I am at the test drive stage, only there is snow everywhere here in Michigan, so I will probably wait a little while to make a decision. Here is where I am coming from. There are no hills here in Michgan, mostly flat land, so the torque is nice, but not a necessity. I have an '03 slightly modified Yamaha R1 motorcycle. It is about 380lbs dry, and just over 400lbs full of fluids putting out about 150 hp. It will smoke any car on this list of yours at least up to 160 mph or so, and I even beat a viper when my bike was new. 1/4 mile time is just under 10 seconds, 0-60 in under 3 seconds. My point is that I don't really need a fast car, I have a faster bike. That might take the mustang off my list. What will save the mustang on my list is that it will not be a daily driver. I have a pretty loaded Expediton for that, so, my second car does not really need to be loaded. I guess I will just let the test drives make the choice for me. I think the Lexus IS350 is out, because I want a real manual transmission, and only the IS250 has one for some reason. The others are still alive on my list, hard choices man! Later.
  24. I don't know much about the infinity, thanks for the info. I can't find any problems on the web with the current model coupe. Does your wife have the sedan or coupe? It looks pretty sharp, and 300 hp from a v6, wow. I think I am more interested in the acura tl or the lexus IS350 though. What about the nissan 350Z. Isn't that just the same as the infinity? I have always been a mustang guy, but lately, I am not sure what the powers that be are doing keeping the car the same for so long. I do love the mustang, but I don't want to see that car get "old" very soon by Ford not keeping it fresh. Just my take, I am close to deciding on my next car though, thanks for everyone's input.
  25. There has already been a lot of people just on this post who have agreed with me. That means that there are even more people who agree with me who don't look at this forum. Use your head, people buying the same cars that I am looking at vs. the mustang could be mustang buyers. These cars are no longer flying off the lots anymore, what happens when it is the same car again next year. I started this post by asking if they are going to put a real Special Edition out next year. If not, maybe they would add some cool things like body colored mirrors and heated leather seats. It is called the evolution of a model 3 years after it was introduced. I am not looking for a camry moron. I want some gadgets to keep me happy in the car, I want some comparible bling to other cars in this price range and horsepower range. People like you blind to what is happening in the automobile industry are why we will never regain the top spots again. Pathetic, just like the heads of the "tiny" 3 american auto companies. Maybe I will look towards the acura, lexus, or infiniti after all, people buying all those foreign cars must know something that you guys don't?
