  1. Better yet is give us a new vehicle along those lines which would actually stand a chance of competing in the US market. (The Falcon would make the GTO look like a sales success if brought to the US as is and priced as it is in it's home market)
  2. I like the Falcon, but I have to agree, it looks dated. It looks like a four door version of the 95 Mustang. If Ford were to release a version here it would have to look different. Do you think the GTO looks modern?
  3. Yeah - I think everyone assumed it was going to be AWD... 300HP in a FWD Econobox? NUTS.
  4. Ha! That would be hilarious!
  5. This is not a good sign. Mercury cancels Freestyle Clone
  6. Ford cancels plans to build Mercury version of Freestyle - Crains Chicago Business.
  7. Man, if that's true you'd think there would already be a handful of threads on that topic!
  8. So will the Navi be next? Ever notice how banks change name overnight? (You can wake up some mornings and find new signs on virtually every branch)...
  9. Unfortunately it looks like all they did back there was change the badge. More photos on Autoblog
  10. Yeah, I'd be ticked if I bought a Zeph though... I wonder if they've spruced up the trunk area at all...
  11. You're mixing your cars. Mondeo = Ford Monaro = Holden There is no reason to believe that a Monaro/Zeta based Impala will be at all larger than the current model. The current Monaro is the basis for the GTO, and the 4 door that the Monaro was based on was the basis for the Cadillac Catera. Neither of those vehicles were substantially large vehicles. The change to RWD could pose a problem for Ford if they are not ready to respond. The same Motor Trend that you mention also mentions "whispers" of Ford developing a sedan off of the D2C platform that underpins the Mustang. I tend not to put a lot of stock in MT's forcasts...
  12. Well, I wish the Montego were more different from the 'hundred. The Milan is much better differentiated, IMHO. I'd like to see a MetaOne Sedan. It's understandable that there will be people who do not like the "Flashiness" of the Fusion, which is why Ford is smart to continue the Mercury line, it give people who would otherwise not purchase a Ford product a second product to consider.
  13. Even the Shelby does not have HID headlights. There will not be HID for 2007. You can get sequentials and HID via the aftermarket. There will be a SE, but it's primarily cosmetic. The Mustangsource.com 2007 Info
  14. Not sure about madza, but Ford owns 33.4% of Mazda. Why the ?
  15. Ford developed their own hybrid system, it shares nothing with the HSD. There is a cross licensing agreement that also allows Toyota access to some of Ford's patents (Ford has over 100 hybrid patents of their own). Ford and Toyota are still the only two manufactures with a full hybrid system, though Hondas has gotten better.
  16. The odd thing is Ford does include them on some models, but just not on the NA version. NA Mazda Tribute has a remote fuel door, the Escape and Mariner built on the same line do not. The Escape/Maverick however outside the US DOES have a fuel door. There have been a couple people on escape-central who have retrofitted their Escapes with remote fuel doors from the UK (The door itself is different from the Tribute, the rest of the tribute mechanism can be used in the conversion, just the door itself needs to come from the UK).
  17. As was pointed out in the other thread the Mariner sales probably took away some Escape sales. I love my Escape, but I hope Ford has something in their back pocket to update it in the not too distant future.
  18. They are available aftermarket from a number of companies, including Classic Design Concepts.
  19. You're right - that's what I get for not watching as a punch the calculator keys... I was off by 30k somehow...
  20. I cannot fathom how someone would choose a 300 or Charger (The Magnum is nice)... I was surprised to see the Freestyle whalloped the Magnum for sales... Combined the D3 trio marginally outsold the LX trio, though in fairness the Charger was not available for the entire year, and would likely have pushed the LX trio over the D3s for sales.
  21. It's amazing that an article that seems to have been researched fairly well could erroneously state that the Mustang is based on DEW98.
