Toyota developing new ultra-low-cost production process
Harry Bennet replied to fmccap's topic in Ford Employee Forum
love them or hate them, Toyota does everything it can to make profits there are a lot of ways to take out more cost some of them are very capital intense have you seen the extruded Al engine block and head? cut the cost of an engine down a third and gets rid of Al casting - bye bye Nemac the ramp up cost (i'm guessing) is what keep Ford and GM out of it right now Toyota has enough bank to buy Ford and GM RIGHT NOW THey can do (nearly) anything they want -
I'm being misunderstood....really

DTP employees vandalize NAP vehicles ?
Harry Bennet replied to NorfolkBuilt's topic in Ford Employee Forum
That SUCKS! Totally typical of local 600 there's your Yankee reception! any wonder why DTP moral is so low? The plant manger is replacing stuff with his own money? NICE How much is Jerry Sullivan kicking in? Joe Winfield kicking in money in? THey damn made sure 919 dues got transfered to 600 This is what you can expect from 600, backstabbing and back biting Don't beleive me? Ask Gary Walkowicz -
Ban on use of cell phones and Head phones
Harry Bennet replied to Reinman's topic in Ford Employee Forum
good points I guess I'm looking deeper into this I had a heck of a fun time at the DTP launch and way the plant tour makes our product appear If you didn't know, everyone was given uniforms to wear, and not cheap stuff either The expectation was everyone would be proud to represent, make the crew look as sharp as Star Trek crew well, people being people, many didn't wear their uniforms Come to think of it, the union reps NEVER wore their uniforms nothing like negoitating for something and never using it! (but hey! it ain't my union or dues) So it would go with cell phones, I thought We would want to show that we take our truck making seriously, we aint goofing aroung with radios, cell phones, or smoking Do you want to buy a $35000 truck from people talking on their phones? I know plenty of assemblers who are great and very quaility conscious and DO talk on thier phones, so I know its a small issue although nearly all the tugger/hilo accidents I ever saw the driver or the pedestrian was on the phone!!! BUT .(and like Pee Wee Herman sez "Everyone I know has a big BUT!") perception is reality for the customer, especially the conquest customer the conquest customer is the customer we get out of a Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, Packard, etc People are watching trucks get made, maybe even the truck they are buying it would be great if we were all at our best, every second, while on display certainly no body was asked if they wanted to be on display, like Santa's elves and car making is a bit like sausage making, sometimes you enjoy the product better without knowing HOW it got made I understand and agree with the phone ban as a matter of quaility consciouness and SAFETY Too! yeah my spelling is bad today Happy HolidaYS -
just to be creepy I was looking at F150s at MTP help justify outsourcing the motorline at DTP and MTP fits with the rest of Way Forward, copy Honda: use plants that are close toegther running all the sheet metal, engine, trans to MO is NOT value added

DECLINE OF THE U.A.W.--WHEN DID IT BEGIN?
Harry Bennet replied to hemmer1's topic in Ford Employee Forum
IMO The UAW is more useful to the workers at Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Kia AT THE END OF THE DRIVEWAY these are the wokers that are getting things with the THREAT of letting the UAW in If the UAW ever gets in these plants, it won't be a threat no more just another layer of management, and doesn't everybody want another layer of management? -
I am a Ford employee, am I aloud to sound off on these boards? Sometimes I write some things that are mean spirited, so what? I am not the only guy writing mean things this isn't a circle jerk I'm ok with you flaming my posts I write a lot about what I think the about the UAW and IMO how it failed the people it represents I'll keep bitching about what a stupid union the UAW is for expecting people to still want to do hard, manual labor in their late 50's and early 60's I bitch about how stupid the last Thunderbird was I'll bitch how stupid I think moving hourly people is I'll tell you everyone I know from NAP is worth twice as much as most the people I know from MTP and I'll keep using my other IDs on this site just to confuse people these are not the droids your looking for. . . Yes I know its spelled 'allowed'

Ban on use of cell phones and Head phones
Harry Bennet replied to Reinman's topic in Ford Employee Forum
touche! great point, next time I'm at the dentist, I'll make sure he's drilling my teeth while he's on the phone, planning his next vacation or I hope to find a lawyer who is talking on the phone to his girlfriend while we're in court discussing my child support and so on . . or a union steward who keeps getting calls from his girlfriend in the middle of a hearing oh, nevermind, you have that committeeman too? I didn't realize I had it all wrong, all this time, I had wrongly thought that I owed the customer (or whoever was paying ME) my full attention when making their product. I guess that's not part of 'honest work for honest pay', I better get to more of them classes at the union hall moved to Sunday nights at 10 pm in January? Why?? I always considered my namesake 'Harry Bennett' to be an evil and selfish man, but not ignorant -
My namesake was a bit evil and selfish, but so were Hoffa and Ruether why would I say that?? 'cuz they saw themselves as too important to delegate authority Thanks for noticing my sarcasm thru poor spelling, subtle but I like your attention to detail I'll get back to you of 'profitablity by lowering wages' I'd a bit flip to say not many reach profitablity by lowering wages, by then its a matter of survival I want to say 'wage freezes have made a few airlines profitable' but I am too lazy today to research it University of Hard Knox Happy 4th day of Hanukah

Harry Bennet replied to Reinman's topic in Ford Employee Forum
how much snow do y'all get in Kentucky? I always wanted to buy a car built by people for had more important things to do than build me a quailty car, like talk to their girlfriend in trim or their bookie Maybe they were on the phone, talking to the Quaility Hotline? Smell the Pride! -
why you wasting logic on this board? market generates wages? no one comes here to read that every one comes here to blow smoke on how grate it is to work for the UAW and that the UAW will always get them big$$$, more that a college education never mind , with a few exceptions, the people in the plant are paid by FORD, never mind the UAW is only the neogiating agent for some of the people in the plant, nevermind that the UAW cherrypicked a lot of other industries to get more members, no one on this board wants to believe that the Camry/Accord/Sedona are good products, and people buy them on value its easier to be a cornbread-eating UAW dues-payer and assume that our fellow Americans hate us because we have a union Logic is nice stuff , but in BON employee forum, he's not a welcome (or understood) guest

Harry Bennet replied to bogya's topic in Ford Employee Forum

Will the UAW Allow us "salaried" members to get screwed?
Harry Bennet replied to bogya's topic in Ford Employee Forum
how could i pass up this opportunity IMO a union is very much like the agent that represents a sports star/celebrity The 'union' is just a law firm, confusing its clients with membership is a big part of the con-game The UAW (like very other law firm) tried its hardest to expand its representation, whether or not it could effectively represent nurses, drivers, teachers, etc. And the UAW certainly made enemies of these unions that were already established in their proffessions Person-to-person, I am sorry to hear that your 'lawyer' has done a poor job representing you Union representation is a game of politics, the few salary represented, can be thrown to the dogs, without much heat to the UAW leaders So YES, they're gone let the bus run YOU over!! However, we all could read the writing on the wall for the last 2 decades, car buyers(customers) are not willing enough purchase the UAW products, right or wrong, conciously or instinctively, the customer base of Ford has shrank the UAW did very little in the last 20 years to reduce the cost it charges the OEM certainly the UAW has done very little itself to prepare the rank and file for the 'exodus' that is beginning you have skills, nurising, that translate rather directly to other workplaces what's gonna happen to the guys and gals that pack pistons, build seats, load frames? these 'skills' are not needed anywhere else in the job market and all the while the lawyer told the client to keep spending money its rather unfair that the 'close shop' policy strips away your right to choose if you wanted this representation or not. maybe a real nurses union would leave you high and dry and would not have wasted you dues blowing smoke up your pants and instead would be negoiating an exit stratergy for you like I said 'Smell that union PRIDE!' -
Will the UAW Allow us "salaried" members to get screwed?

Don't worry I don't mind if Hiliary sat on their board I'll still shop there See, she hardly dented their image :D you worry too much -
Now I really feel like a sucker! You? Dark270 ? Cannot boast 'I work for Ford, I drive a Ford' ? I chose a Ford (in spite of the UAW badge on it) over a Volvo 'cuz I do know some of the dedicated men and women who built it why didn't I put my money where my mouth is? So what is the badge on the Darkmobile? a Bowtie or a Pentagram? oh . . and to stay on topic, there will still be RWD and a V8 for the next Explorer

YES THANK YOU keep MTP OPEN, building Nissans if that's what it takes iz allz Im saying if it takes a COA that's outsources janitors and MP&L, its better than losing a whole shift I'd hate to see 140 ppl lose their jobs, but is lets 400 keep theirs, so be it Yes high wages in non-production, non-trades job is a GIVE BACK once gone it will NEVER COME BACK but once a Ford plant closes, when will another one ever be built? in NA , most likely never Survival of the Ford workforce is a game of MINIMIZING loses! if 'W' can understand 'Stay the course' is not going to work maybe Gettlefinger & Co. at Law. can understand it too
