Probably? That might just be a slight understatement there. It has a better power-to-weight ratio than either the E63 AMG or the M5, both of which are much faster than the previos-gen CTS-V. I'm thinking 0-60 times in the very low four-second range, if not slightly lower than that.

Yes, it's essentially the same engine. I believe they refer to it as the LS8, while the ZR1's engine is called the LS9. Beautiful, beautiful car. That interior looks perfect (especially the seats). Should be a monster.

It's a Corvette, and it needs to look like a Corvette. Besides, it's pretty easy to distinguish it from run-of-the-mill Corvettes with a quick glance. I love the look, especially with the rear lip spoiler. Carbon ceramic brake rotors, 620 horses, carbon fiber everywhere, a better power-to-weight ratio than a Ferrari 599, over 1.0g of lateral grip... I'm in love.

I suppose it's possible. I've been through this already. I understand that 99% of the folks here probably don't like GM. I'm not so dense that I would assume otherwise. suv_guy is a special brand of "fan," however - he refuses to admit the merits of non-Ford branded vehicles completely. Being a loyal fan is one thing - being an irrational boob is another. Yes, you are sticking up for him, and yes, he IS a tool. I don't see why it's necessary for you to be offended by comments directed at somebody else. Disliking Toyota is fine, but when your hatred is of the "such and such Toyota car sucks purely because it's a Toyota, and therefore it possesses no good qualities at all" variety, you're officially a tool. I'm not the world's biggest Ford fan, but I've got Ford-related products in my family (Mazda3), and I fully realize that the majority of Ford's lineup is very competitive. There's a difference between not liking a car company and disparaging every product it offers without regard to the merits of said products. Example: I hate the Expedition, but it's easy to see that it beats the Tahoe hands-down in terms of overall utility. Many people buy SUVs with utility as a top priority, and for that reason I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Expedition to somebody looking at large SUVs.

I disagree heartily. There are a few of these people around (like suv_guy), but most of you seem to possess the ability to recognize a good car based on its merits. Does that mean you have to like it? Absolutely not. Does that mean you should be able to give credit where credit is due, even when the car isn't from your favorite manufacturer? Yes. You are correct. That doesn't mean blind loyalists shouldn't be challenged/aren't wrong. Will I change suv_guy's opinion? Nope. Does that matter? Nope. I'm not really trying to win anybody over. suv_guy is the target of my ire because he truly is a tool. If I did it simply because a certain person didn't like a GM product, I'd probably be "getting into it" with many other members, too. This is, undeniably, the truth. I like to understand the perspective of "the other side," but sometimes I run across somebody who is especially toolbag-ish, and I cannot refrain from commenting.

I suppose you're right. The CTS did sell more than Cadillac had expected, and while in general I think it kept up the sales pace much better than anybody would've guessed, it looks as if the new one is coming out at just the right time.

I was talking more along the lines of the year it was introduced versus right now. And I'm not surprised that it's down YTD this year versus last year. Something quite significant happened between then and now, involving the unveiling of a certain car that might have an effect on the first-generation CTS's sales...

Sales of the CTS never waned after its introduction, so I'd say you're probably in the minority. You are right, however, that it all boils down to personal taste.
