  1. Probably? That might just be a slight understatement there. It has a better power-to-weight ratio than either the E63 AMG or the M5, both of which are much faster than the previos-gen CTS-V. I'm thinking 0-60 times in the very low four-second range, if not slightly lower than that.
  2. Yes, it's essentially the same engine. I believe they refer to it as the LS8, while the ZR1's engine is called the LS9. Beautiful, beautiful car. That interior looks perfect (especially the seats). Should be a monster.
  3. Oh, I have no doubt it'll "beat up the big boys" with said "old time" transmission. And madness is not always a bad thing.
  4. It's a Corvette, and it needs to look like a Corvette. Besides, it's pretty easy to distinguish it from run-of-the-mill Corvettes with a quick glance. I love the look, especially with the rear lip spoiler. Carbon ceramic brake rotors, 620 horses, carbon fiber everywhere, a better power-to-weight ratio than a Ferrari 599, over 1.0g of lateral grip... I'm in love.
  5. I suppose it's possible. I've been through this already. I understand that 99% of the folks here probably don't like GM. I'm not so dense that I would assume otherwise. suv_guy is a special brand of "fan," however - he refuses to admit the merits of non-Ford branded vehicles completely. Being a loyal fan is one thing - being an irrational boob is another. Yes, you are sticking up for him, and yes, he IS a tool. I don't see why it's necessary for you to be offended by comments directed at somebody else. Disliking Toyota is fine, but when your hatred is of the "such and such Toyota car sucks purely because it's a Toyota, and therefore it possesses no good qualities at all" variety, you're officially a tool. I'm not the world's biggest Ford fan, but I've got Ford-related products in my family (Mazda3), and I fully realize that the majority of Ford's lineup is very competitive. There's a difference between not liking a car company and disparaging every product it offers without regard to the merits of said products. Example: I hate the Expedition, but it's easy to see that it beats the Tahoe hands-down in terms of overall utility. Many people buy SUVs with utility as a top priority, and for that reason I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Expedition to somebody looking at large SUVs.
  6. I disagree heartily. There are a few of these people around (like suv_guy), but most of you seem to possess the ability to recognize a good car based on its merits. Does that mean you have to like it? Absolutely not. Does that mean you should be able to give credit where credit is due, even when the car isn't from your favorite manufacturer? Yes. You are correct. That doesn't mean blind loyalists shouldn't be challenged/aren't wrong. Will I change suv_guy's opinion? Nope. Does that matter? Nope. I'm not really trying to win anybody over. suv_guy is the target of my ire because he truly is a tool. If I did it simply because a certain person didn't like a GM product, I'd probably be "getting into it" with many other members, too. This is, undeniably, the truth. I like to understand the perspective of "the other side," but sometimes I run across somebody who is especially toolbag-ish, and I cannot refrain from commenting.
  7. Yes, how impressive that the Charger utilizes some bits and pieces from the previous generation E-Class. Gosh, I never would've guessed! You don't seem to propagate your opinion enough around here... Irrational hatred of a car company, no matter how good the products are, does, indeed, make you a tool. Congratulations.
  8. Is it the cheap, standard-issue Chrysler interior that won you over? Or simply the fact that it's not a GM vehicle? You're a tool.
  9. I suppose you're right. The CTS did sell more than Cadillac had expected, and while in general I think it kept up the sales pace much better than anybody would've guessed, it looks as if the new one is coming out at just the right time.
  10. I was talking more along the lines of the year it was introduced versus right now. And I'm not surprised that it's down YTD this year versus last year. Something quite significant happened between then and now, involving the unveiling of a certain car that might have an effect on the first-generation CTS's sales...
  11. Sales of the CTS never waned after its introduction, so I'd say you're probably in the minority. You are right, however, that it all boils down to personal taste.
  12. My "argument" has solely to do with you - how in the world can it be anything but personal? Besides, it's not really an argument; it's more like an observation. You possess the worst kind of bias, and that's the simple truth. What's there to argue about? This goes without saying. Why bother mentioning it? You've already declared that the new V-12 sedan will be a failure, so apparently there's nothing left to discuss. Does it matter that none of us have the faintest idea what it looks like? I guess not. You would know something about annoying people, eh? I should probably take your word for it. Free of charge, Richard. Free of charge.
  13. Is this supposed to prove me wrong? It's not even worth the effort, Richard. You've made a reputation for yourself, and it's not going away any time soon. I expect nothing more from you. People use this word? Uh-huh. Right. Richard (the king of objectivity and reason) thinks I'm filled with bias. Boo frikkidy hoo. Everybody is biased Richard. Everybody. Some people, however, have the ability to see through their bias. You were not graced with this capability, and therefore you see the world in a different (read: skewed) way. I have a feeling this won't be the last time you say this.
  14. Because you've proven to be so objective in the past, right? Thank God most people don't take you seriously - if they did, you'd be dangerous. If it's affiliated with GM in some way, Richard will find a way to shine a negative light on it, no matter the product. I'm glad you have an internet soapbox suitable for voicing these opinions, but what you say really needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Always. So you've seen the new V-12 sedan already, then? And now you're trying to be clever. To add to what I said before, I'm thankful that the majority of car enthusiasts I know possess at least a modicum of objectivity when it comes to forming an opinion about a car. You are not one of those people. Your verbal diarrhea is comical most of the time, but quite frequently you just sound ridiculous.
  15. So, have you guys taken a look at C&D's new full-size pickup comparo?
  16. No kidding. I'm laughing as I type. Wow, talk about a stretch. I'd say it looks more like, you know, a Holden Commodore. Yeah, about five years ago. A nice up-to-date reference there. You're a joke. We've all got bias, but some people (read: YOU) couldn't provide an objective opinion if their lives depended on it. Perhaps the logo on the front is influencing your opinion just a bit?
  17. I suppose everybody has different tastes, then. I'm a big fan of Cadillac's styling direction, in some cases more than others. The new CTS is bold without being offensive, edgy without being overdone. I think it looks great. The MKR is certainly nice, but I really couldn't disagree with you more about your assertion of Cadillac's "simple" exterior designs - especially with regard to the new CTS. Check out the area around the fender vent, in particular. The designers clearly spent lots of time on the details. The old car was definitely lacking in exterior detailing, but I feel that's been rectified here. It looks much more sophisticated, much more upmarket than its predecessor. I haven't noticed this difference, but I can't say that it really matters too much. You're the absolute first person who's made this distinction, so it appears that the majority of people don't even take notice. I'd say that Lincoln will have to implement this design detail on more than two cars (one of which is a concept) to really have an "upper hand" on Cadillac. But really, if this is the most prominent example of Lincoln's better finishing technique that you can think of, Cadillac has nothing to worry about. Lincoln is so far behind in other areas that it just doesn't matter. I guess Lincoln has to have something going for them, though. *shrug* I'll put my trust in the people who've had a chance to sit in the CTS. Check out the editor's blog over at Edmunds for a better idea of what I'm talking about. He really loved it.
  18. Right, this is how mature people express their opinions...
  19. It's a shame that your bias for Lincoln prevents you from admitting that the new CTS is a great car. But hey, it's no skin off my back. The overwhelming majority of the automotive world has reacted very positively to it, and that's what counts. LincolnFan doesn't like it, but only LincolnFan thinks that will really make a difference. Everybody else knows it's a great effort from Detroit's premiere luxury brand.
  20. That's because the Five Hundred is a minor facelift. Anybody with two eyes and a functioning brain should be able to see that this is much more than a facelift.
  21. The vehicle pictured in the Automobile Magazine link is a base model, for whatever reason. *shrug* Standard 258-horsepower V-6, optional 300-horsepower V-6. Sweet! Looks great, Cadillac.
  22. I think it looks great. I'll take it over the other retro pony cars, hands down.
  23. Surprising post from Kool. I probably could've guessed what it would say, word for word, before you posted. That's your standard "reaction" to every new GM car.
