    NAP

I rode by the plant today. The round overhead tunnel from Body Shop to E-coat is gone and it looks like they are tearing down the E-coat building itself. I saw some bulldozers and several high lifts working in that area......I drove to the main gate(near the Union hall) but couldn't see too much from there as there were some barricades in the way.....I didn't have a camera but, even if I did, the pictures would not have showed anything of interest........Such a shame to see the old girl go..........As I sat there on the road, I said a little prayer of thanks to my Lord for being able to make 30 years at such a wonderful job with so many great people............
  4. You got that right, Joe.....When I was working I had one insurance provider(Cigna) and never had ro pay anything ....Now I've got 2(Medicare and BC/BS) and I'm getting bills right and left that these 2 don't pay........I think I liked it better when Ford provided our insurance than now whan the UAW does...................BTW, how and what are you doing, Joe..............
  5. I've talked to several former NAP employees and they say they heard the same thing...........Hard to believe it could happen, but it would be wonderful...........
  6. I just thought I had a good job at NAP but this(retirement) is absolutely the best job I've ever had.....
  7. Is that you, Doug?.......
  8. No we moved back to Great Bridge....Las Gaviotas.......What are you doing? This is JG, isn't it?
  9. I'm a retired electrician from NAP. I haven't been on here in a long time. Was just wondering if there are any former NAP folks still posting on here...........
  10. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you wherever you may be.....Best of luck and may God bless you and your families........ Of course the title is SUPPOSED to say 'TO All Former NAPers'.....not Ta(I'm VERY old so forgive me)....This site won't let you edit your title, only your post......................................
  11. Hey Unionj, Wouldn't it be great if things turned around and they did re-open.......Call me if you need me :happy feet: :happy feet: ..BTW, I still plan to make it to your place one day......Happy Thanksgiving
  12. Just another way they screw us, I guess........
  13. Yes Pioneer as a matter of fact, I posted it.....We had Optima HMO and when the plant closed Optima dropped Ford not the other way around.....Thanks for your suggestion about the blood work......So far we're not very happy with CIGNA. The lady from CIGNA said we don't have a high level of coverage and that's why a lot of things aren't covered.....My wife is having more blood work this week so I will take your advise and have him check with the lab first.......Thanks again Pioneer and elrey for the info.....
  14. Has anybody enrolled in CIGNA had any trouble with them....We are finding out that Ford provided us with a low level of coverage......My wife had some blood work done and we got a bill for $737.00 that wasn't covered by CIGNA.....We have had several medicines turned down also.....One was an allergy medicine she has taken for years. We never had any trouble with our medical insurance until the jerks shut NAP down and we had to go to a new insurance.......Thanks a lot Mr Ford, cancel our good insurance, close our plant along with several others but keep on advertizing in the gay magazines(that's what's REALLY important to you, right?)
  15. Thanks for the update........I'm assuming this is DJ, am I right...........Glad you are doing good and having fun. Good luck with the Police and Fire Dept jobs. I hear Todd S. is already in the FD Academy and my son-in-law took and passed the test and is waiting to hear from them......Seems like a lot of folks went with Blackwater. According to the morning news, they've got some big problems.....I think Stanley is the Boss out there and Jack H. is there also......Hope all works out for them and for all the former NAP people.......Keep in touch when you get the chance.......
  16. Thanks for the REALLY GREAT and INTELLIGENT reply..........I hope you have a happy retirement too, when that day comes......
  17. Why Toyota is now #1 ! A Modern Parable A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (General Motors) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River. Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race. On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile. The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action. Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person rowing. Feeling a deeper study was in order, American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion. They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing. Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager. They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the Rowing Team Quality First Program(FPS ???), with meetings, dinners and free pens and a certificate of completion for the rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses. The next year the Japanese won by two miles. Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower (a reduction in workforce) for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's racing team was "out-sourced" to India . Sadly, the End. However, sad, but oh so true! Here's something else to think about: Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US, claiming they can't make money paying American wages. Toyota has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US The last quarter's results: Toyota makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in losses. Ford folks are still scratching their heads. IF THIS WASN'T SO SAD IT MIGHT BE FUNNY!

"OUR GREATEST GLORY IS NOT IN NEVER FALLING, BUT RISING EVERY TIME WE FALL" Confuscius I saw Rocky Balboa(Rocky 6) the other night and I don't think it was Confuscius who made that profound statement...it was the Italian Stallion......
